@Victor Read the book years ago, saw the first series years ago, decided not to watch this one because it was billed as having a strong independent female warrior in it and I am just sick to death of history being re-written to fit an agenda, even in fiction.
So, not knowing the context I would say that in politics a man who is ambitious himself can only see an ally who is ambitious as a rival. It happens quite a lot even these days. Two ambitious young politicians team up but in the end one stabs the other in the back to get to high office or one promises the other to help him later if he gets the top job first and then usually does not follow through.
It was much more common, however, when war could elevate a man. The possibilities for sudden betrayal were many. You had Stanley turning up for the crucial battle of the war of the roses and deciding to switch sides. You had Pompey Caesar and Crassus taking over Rome only to then fight each other.
Miyamoto Musashi was definitely an interesting guy. Very much a product of his time -of toxic rivalries between schools of swordsmen but clearly a guy with a huge range of talent -have you seen some of his art? His tactic of turning up late for duels is a good one that I have used myself on occasion -though not for more than duels of words. If the opposition turns up early all wired and ready to go and then you arrive annoyingly late and fresh, it can really put them off. However this does go right against "Traveller's" advice for duellists -be there first dominate the ground, intimidate the opposition by being cools and purposeful when they arrive. Probably a case of different cultures.

apartment building in my city was wired with only blue wires.
Don't see how this could possibly pass inspection!
Was more impressed with my one word comment than this trolling, which is saying a lot
That's one of my problems with him. If he gets success from his advice, is it because of his advice or in spite of it?
I doubt it's the former, but rather his other appeal
millionaire
He is? Or just a poser with rented shit like so many others?
But to answer your original question: it's amazing how many people will follow someone just because they're photogenic and speak with confidence.
you do X Y Z and you'll get her
Did that sorry-ass, grifter, MOTHERFUCKER steal my goddamn 100% foolproof step-by-step method?!

Question:
I've noticed I've been missing out on a large amount of good looking gals because they are intimidated by me. Usually in the younger crowd.
I would just shrug it off and focus on the ones that can handle this lion, but some quality kitten in that crowd got me thinking twice.
What do you suggest?
Probably
Meanwhile he's jacked and a millionaire and probably doesn't say how much that works for him out side of his content
He probably has a lot of leeway for fucking up to be honest. Good for him but it is not accurate for his viewers if that is actually the case and he benefits in spite of his advice rather than because of it
@Typo-MAGAshiv And somehow that's my problem now!
