They want him out of their way.

When Church Militant broke the news over the weekend that the Vatican had ordered an investigation of Bp. Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas, the Catholic social media world exploded, as it should have.

What other response should there be?

The Texas bishop has piled up scorn and private disdain from many of his brother bishops. Now that private disdain has bubbled over into the realm of public disdain, as he is now being "gone after" because of his orthodoxy and willingness to announce it.

He has deservedly earned the nickname "America's Bishop" for his simple manner of clear, direct speaking. And, of course, the hierarchy, as it is currently (and temporarily, we might add) composed, can never tolerate clarity.

A large part of the corruption happens because of the bishops' unofficial involvement in politics. They continually push for the agenda of the Democratic Party, point by point, but carefully sidestep the prickly situation of being actually officially political. Catholic, Inc., can't jeopardize that precious 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax status.

The Society remains rotten at its core.

Well, they're at it again. The schismatic sex abusers over at the SSPX are once again victimizing children and then revictimizing them as adults by lying and covering up their crimes.

It's an odd position to take for the society of clergy that thinks themselves, and often declares themselves, to be holier than the rest of the Church to be so closely aligned in this area with the Church. Their leaders are no better and, in some cases, actually worse because of their ecclesiastical hubris than bishops and clergy who are not in schism.

Ever since Pope John Paul II declared them to be in schism in 1988, they have created a fortress of unaccountability and zero transparency around the issue of sex abuse by their priests and, more importantly, the enabling cover-up by the illicitly consecrated bishops.

It's more than just boys.

We reported in yesterday's Vortex on the legal hellhole the archdiocese of Baltimore has fallen into, owing to a flood of 600 lawsuits over sexual predation of minors.

It is very likely that, in short order, Abp. William Lori will file for bankruptcy protection for his archdiocese — the first diocese established in America.

Aside from the symbolic blow such a move would be to the Church in the United States — joining 30 other dioceses in filing for bankruptcy for the same reason — there is an entirely overlooked aspect to all this as well.

It isn't just minors that have been sexually assaulted, although those cases are the ones that make headlines because of the victims' ages.

There are also vulnerable adults — especially seminarians who have been and are assaulted by homopredator clergy.

Recall that most of Theodore McCarrick's victims were not minors, although significantly some were, but were mostly seminarians at his Jersey Shore beach house — and then this went on for years.

Charges and accusations just like this have plagued seminaries and their faculties for decades now, up to and including the prestigious bishop factory in Rome: the North American College.

Most of the time, corrupt leaders circle the wagons and get rid of the whistle-blower seminarians and then return to business as usual.

One such leader who is accused of this is the Baltimore archbishop, William Lori, the chaplain of the Knights of Columbus who, by the way, has yet to release any statement on the Maryland attorney general's report proving Lori kept predators and cover-up personnel in place.

He knew what had happened and participated in the cover-up. For that alone, if he doesn't resign, he should be removed by Pope Francis.

The Traumatic Foundation of Male Homosexuality

As a psychologist treating homo-sexually oriented men, I’ve watched with dismay as the LGBT movement has convinced the world that “gay” requires a revised understanding of the human person.

The psychological profession is much to blame for this shift. Once, it was generally agreed that normality is “that which functions in accordance with its design.” There was no such thing as a “gay person,” for humanity was recognized as naturally and fundamentally heterosexual. In my 30-plus years of clinical practice, I have seen the truth of that original anthropological understanding.

Homosexuality is, in my view, primarily a symptom of gender trauma. Although some people may have been born with biological conditions (prenatal hormonal influences, inborn emotional sensitivity) that make them especially vulnerable to such trauma, what distinguishes the male homosexual condition is that there was an interruption in the normal masculine identification process.

Homosexual behavior is a symptomatic attempt to “repair” the original wound that left the boy alienated from the innate masculinity that he has failed to claim. This differentiates it from heterosexuality, which arises naturally from undisturbed gender-identity development.

The basic conflict in most homosexuality is this: the boy—usually a sensitive child, more prone than average to emotional injury—desires love and acceptance from the same-sex parent, yet feels frustration and rage against him because the parent is experienced by this particular child as unresponsive or abusive. (Note that this child may have siblings who experienced the same parent differently).

Abuse victim speaks out.

When the Catholic League's Bill Donohue boldly and falsely declared on EWTN a couple of weeks back that the Catholic clerical sex abuse crisis was over, he lied.

First, the numbers he's using to make that claim (worth noting), in a new book he's peddling pushing the phony claim, are from the bishops. In short, they can't be trusted. The bishops lied through their teeth for decades about this evil, so there's no way they can be reliably trusted by anyone with a brain.

Secondly, sexual abuse oftentimes takes years, even decades, to come to light from victim testimony. So even if the numbers are lower, they still aren't reliable because there's no way they can be predictive of future revelations.

But, most importantly, for many sex abuse victims who are now adults, the crisis will never be over.

Last month, Church Militant interviewed a man whose story is absolutely worth listening to — and praying for.

This is a group that Bill Donohue — who gets away with paying himself $1 million a year because of his close association with U.S. bishops — completely overlooked.
