@TiberiusBravo87 I agree with this. But I see lack of covid discussion and the impact the riots and protests have on it from both left and right. The media in general is fucked.

@TiberiusBravo87 eh. That's just one place.

@TiberiusBravo87 sounds like you watch too much one sided news sources... Which news outlets do you get your news from?

@Daily-Prescription uhh.. actually everybody should be condemning that. That's one of the major contributing factors to why the black population is in utter ruins. Skin color doesn't change the fact that everybody can be subjected to the same mental conditioning and brainwashing. And when the only major type of artist that gets put our from your community is some tacky 3rd grade level rapper with face tats that does lean, glorifies violence.. and then you hear it over and over and over again..and then you and your community do nothing to either stop it, or attempt to teach new generations differently.. yes. They're part of the problem. In fact, all those who listen and do nothing to challenge it are at fault. Also the record labels. (but that's they're game and people are too stupid to see it )

@TheStoicCrane look I'm with ya 100%.. I've been looking at myself the last couple days and saying "wow. At first I was saying fuck these protestors and looters. They don't give a fuck about george". And now I'm seeing just how militaristic and fascist this behavior is. And now I'm gearing up to travel to DC to stand on the front lines. I did it in 2011 and I'll do it again now. The government serves us. Not the other way. I'll gladly die defending my civil liberties. This shit is unacceptable.

@TheStoicCrane the military has stricter rules of engagement... And here's the thing. You have to believe that most soldiers in america are not interested in shooting their brethren. I would also expect high ranking military officials to be of this mind too. I don't suspect many find trump to be terribly smart considering how many of them have voiced their utter displeasure at working for him and incredulousness at the actions he takes. It leaves them baffled and contemptuous that they have to work with someone of such caliber. They'll play him like a fiddle.

@Osiris Don't assume it doesn't alarm people. But unless you have a decisive plan of action to fix it. right now. For yourself, for other or both, then getting freaked out and driven by emotions does nothing. Because you can bet your ass that Governors wont take this and military personnel wont attack civilians.

if im wrong on that, then ill worry.

@redpillschool The issue that a lot of people are having trouble understanding about this fact is that, the narrative is focused on the fact that the black population is lower than the white population, but that, even though more white people are killed by police, because the black population is lower, it is reported that there is a higher percentage of blacks killed than whites.

For those of you who aren't aware, (I suspect plenty) this all derives from the 'Population Benchmarking' analysis of studies, which is where the issue comes in. This study:

www.pnas.org/content/116/32/15877.short

has invited a lot of controversy(see Heather MacDonald testifying before the US house Judiciary Committee using the study in her speech), but does a good job challenging the main narrative; if nothing else, bringing to light the fact that there are still a fuck ton of variables that need to be studied in depth to get a real picture of which race is truly suffering the most from police brutality.

www.citylab.com/equity/2019/08/police-officer-shootings-gun-violence-racial-bias-crime-data/595528/

does a good job explaining where the issues are and why it's so damn hard, (and not as cut and dry as you may think) to truly determine police statistics regarding race, mostly because there hasn't truly been a cohesive database run by a government agency until recently (the FBI). Most have been started by news outlets (guardian, washington post). The second article states this about where the typical argument that blacks are killed more than whites comes from:

An example of population-benchmarking is... “26% of civilians killed by police shootings in 2015 were Black even though Black civilians comprise only 12% of the U.S. population. According to this 12% benchmark, more Black civilians are fatally shot than we would expect, indicating disparity.”

And that's where the issue lies. The second article also provides a journal link arguing why population benchmarking isn't a very effective method. Also, there have been a bunch of good Data Tables published over the last two days that argue the same thing.

Officer characteristics and racial disparities in fatal officer-involved shootings
There is widespread concern about racial disparities in fatal officer-involved shootings and that these disparities reflect discrimination by White officers. Existing databases of fatal shootings lack information about officers, and past analytic approaches have made it difficult to assess the contributions of factors like crime. We create a comprehensive database of officers involved in fatal shootings during 2015 and predict victim race from civilian, officer, and county characteristics. We find no evidence of anti-Black or anti-Hispanic disparities across shootings, and White officers are ... | PNAS
