That's how I've always done it, and I've had zero issues as far as that goes.

It was being fixed and had to be refixed to not let those guys spam you again, tis a different web service than our old chat. We've been fixing it throughout the day

The chat icon at top of page is showing a red notification of 0 new chats.
Overall the new layout is great, but now the only way to navigate to a different tribe is through the 3 bars icon.
Chat interface is powered by a dedicated chat server so the performance should be a lot better. Give it a try!
@Typo-MAGAshiv Yes and somewhat yes. This new infrastructure includes a dedicated chat server that will handle REAL time chatting way better than our current system
