Running with barefoot / zero drop / mid foot strike style solved all my shin splint issues and knee issues

@VasiliyZaitzev Strongly second this! Even when I was in High School cross country, I was prone to shin splints. Concrete is worst.

Swimming for cardio, sprints > long jogs on land unless you're training for an endurance run.

@jeunpeun99 That second one. If you are out jogging, your knees take a pounding. Swimming gives you good exercise without that.

I am not against jogging, but I am against tendinitis etc. If you do run/jog, be mindful of the surface you are on. So sand/grass > blacktop > concrete (the worst of all.)

@replacemenwithalphas00 You have so many unwritten pages. As I get older I am more conscious of not wasting my time - or, more correctly, to prevent other people from wasting my time. Thus anything you can do to "automate" certain functions, do it.

You have put forth a number of broad categories. I would suggest, in fitness and health, add "become good at swimming". When you are older, your knees will thank you.

Also, learning an instrument will bring you life-long pleasure.
