You Owe Society Nothing
Published 11/17/19 by thegloriousjohnson [0 Comments]

You've been told over and over, especially on TRP, that society owes you nothing. That you have no right to be entitled; because as a man nobody is going to support you or even care about you. Furthermore that you have no right to be a victim because a male victim, perceived or otherwise, is a pathetic thing and the cruel anonymous hand of "society" will smack you down for even asserting such. Whether or not this is true or merely a product of the anger phase is irrelevant, accepting that society is aloof and does not have benevolent desires toward your life is a good starting place for thriving in the world.

All of this is is true.

However, there is another side that is not talked about, and is often a horrendously contrarian opinion to have in many societies. You owe nothing to society. You owe nothing to the world at large and have no obligation to contribute anything to your country, your government, the greater good, or any abstraction used to shame people down certain lifelong pigeonholes. It starts with recognizing that Humanity, as much as we have changed in the modern world, still operates in our caveman tribe mentality. Those who are members of our tribe we are comfortable around, those who aren't are shamed, ostracized, or killed. (Ie Patriotism). We are members of many tribes with varying attachments to each; (family, political party, friend group, province, country, etc). As much as we consider ourselves rational beings, we often do not even see the tribal biases that subconsciously influence our opinions. It stems from our comfort and poor ability to see the thought processes of others that went into their own tribal opinions. Each time you feel that tinge of annoyance at someones behavior (especially a stranger), remember that it likely does not have any effect on your life at all, and that letting it affect you will only hamper your own growth. We live and die by our choices, and so will they.

None of this is inherently a bad thing. Tribal mentality kept us alive for millennia and supported the propagation of the species. The problem is when these tribal frameworks become intertwined with morality and ethical obligations.

Eg. The repulsion one feels when they are next to someone who is mentally ill on the bus. And the extension of this is the institutionalization and over-medication of those that we consider deviating from the societal norms of behavior which we are quick to classify as mental illness.

Eg. The public shaming of MGTOW because they arnt marrying post wall women and supporting the "Plan" for a normal life.

Eg. The kids who arnt getting jobs and playing video games all day in their parents basement, because they arnt being a good worker citizen and paying taxes.

How do we act in this sort of world?

The most terrifying thing today is the use of mob force, providing anonymity to its individual members. It takes a level of courage to reject the approved paths laid out for us, and in a way that is what we at TRP are doing. Shaming doesn't have to affect our mental equilibrium or inner peace. Inner peace that only comes from living in accordance with the ethical code that you have devised for yourself. These codes are only formed through critical thinking, asking ourselves: Does this make sense? Why am i doing this?, even while the whole world tells you it does, and if it doesn't, being content with watching the world burn in their error.

Once you get up on a soapbox and start preaching your personal code as a way of life to others, a way of life that only makes sense through your personal mental processes, you become part of the problem and the cycle repeats.

In the end, you cant change societies behavior, you can only change your own. If you wish to toss your "obligation" to social utilitarianism out the fucking window; and dont get married, dont follow "the american dream", dont vote, play video games and jerk off in your basement, never do anything charitable for African children, never shower, do drugs, sprint across the street when the light says stop, let a loud fart rip in a silent church service, or kill yourself; society will hate you for it. Some people on TRP might even hate you for it. Everyone wants to give you 10 rules to live your life by, but ultimately you are the only person that can live the one life you're given and in the end, You have a choice.
