Have to choose some firmware for my device coming here friday. MiniUI would optimize this device for easier pick up and play with faster boot time, OnionOS will let me play with the OS and adjust more stuff. Plus it has Pico8, plus the ability to swap between different quick-saved games on the fly. I don't want another electronic device where I spend 10 hours tinkering with it to maybe 2 hours actually playing it, I might try MiniUI just so I can get straight to gaming with my rom collection. But Onion's ability to switch between the last games+save states you played is awesome. Plus Pico8. Leaning towards OnionOS so far.
I have a 64GB microSD coming in with the Miyoo Mini V2, I bought the newer transparent black version. I have a new in box 8gb PNY microSD sitting around from a very long time ago, might try MiniUI on the smaller one and OnionOS on the larger card since that OS might use SegaCD games etc.
Read More@AFTSOV That one is ok, I still play OpenXCom on PC and my laptop though. Doesn't compare lol. Front Mission Gun Hazard will be something I'll probably play quite a bit, everyone has to play that. It's an SNES game that is still higher quality than modern 2d shooters, it's nuts they did not continue with that spin-off. The story about some Illuminati manipulating the world into war is also so accurate it's scary. That game was meant for kids and teens ffs.
@TiberiusBravo87 if you liked Advanced wars, I highly recommend *Rebelstar: Tactical Command"
Easily the most independent RTs for the GBA. It's Xcom but for Gameboy, great game.
Getting a Miyoo Mini V2 shipped to me. I will mostly stick to SNES, NES, and GBA (Advance Wars 1+2 were my jam on a GBA SP back in the day) so this thing should cover that quite well. It's also half the price of getting an RP2+ shipped here, that means if the wife keeps borrowing it often enough I can just buy another. Supposed the Retro Game Corps guy said this is a good device to keep by the bed, it just does what it needs to do. Still plan on getting an RP2+ at some point but the price was right for this device.
Sometimes I regret not having developed these skills. If I was rich from the very start (inherited wealth or whatever, and with actual access to it) then I would have instead specialized in physics and electronics. However, I always felt that something was very wrong with my society, and so by keeping it virtual I'd have some better way to escape it all, even if I didn't have any idea how to do it.

@TiberiusBravo87 A long time ago there was a limit on the size of empires because you couldn't really trust whether your emperor wrote your orders or not. Now we're coming full circle.
@TiberiusBravo87 It's been a long time coming.
@DrClit and what is life beyond a dystopian nightmare?
Amazon let the cat out of the bag. They unknowingly just admitted to being able to deepfake anyone's voice with just a few minutes of sampling. This can't be used for nefarious purposes, right?
