TRP’s endgame is simple in concept: Once you can get your basic needs taken care of (pussy, etc), you are going to cope with the problem of existing in an indifferent to hostile culture by constructing a more liveable microclimate around yourself.
And you’re going to need some help from other people. They are going to have to give a fuck about what you want, enough to contribute their efforts to creating it.
It would certainly be helpful here if there were some sort of magical technology that helped keep track of fucks given, so you could maybe do something that someone gives a fuck about, get some of these tokens, then give some to somebody else to make them give a fuck about what you want.
Since you are not a total idiot, by now you have realized that I am talking about money. You’re going to need money. And more specifically, what you are going to need is financial freedom.
Notice I didn’t say “wealth”. That typically just means “a lot of money”. And I didn’t say “financial independence”, because that has come to mean “money you get without having a job”.
By “Financial freedom”, I mean:
The goal here is that “lack of money” isn’t going to get in your way, and neither is “I have to do this to get money”. Imagine, if you will, a successful up-and-coming Hollywood actor. Yes, he’s going to make a lot of money, but how he does that is going to determine not just where he lives or who he hangs out with, but everything down to his daily schedule, what he eats, and what he wears.
What you need is an income stream that doesn’t dictate your lifestyle.
Which means you are going to need at least one job skill.
But aren’t jobs for losers? You’re never going to get rich off a salary!
Yeah, so what? Most of you reading this are in your early to mid-twenties, and you don’t come from the entrepreneurial class... mommy and daddy are not gonna feed you while you start Apple Computer in your garage. You can’t join the business venture poker game, because you don’t have enough scratch to buy a seat at the table. What you have is time, a young body, and a complex brain that’s fully capable of learning complex and valuable skills, so you’re going to have to sell your time and expertise.
But Whiiiiisper, you’re not telling us how to Get Rich Quick!
That’s right, I’m not, because the answer to that question is “get lucky and be in the right place at the right time”. If you want to get rich reliably, then quickly is off the menu, and when you’re a twenty year old kid starting from fuck-all, you’re going to have to suck it up and get a damn job, because the only other option is to be That Guy.
You know. The one who lives in a studio apartment in San Bernadino, California, drives a fifteen year old BMW with a/c that barely works, wears a cheap suit and expensive sunglasses, and is all too eager to tell you about how he is the CEO of his latest business venture, which actually consists of a Wordpress website and nothing else.
In other words, “hussle” does not add value. You need to add value, which means you need either investment dollars or skills. And you, Mr. Twenty Year Old TRP reader, don’t have investment dollars.
So we are not talking about how to get rich… yet. First you need pay your damn rent without having to suck socialist clownworld transgirl dick.
You’re going to need to learn a skill that adds value, and sell it. There’s millions of options; all sorts of specialized knowledge go into all the different things you need to do in order to have a high-tech civilization. But you do have to choose carefully, because not every single one of those skills is something you want to sell, and they don’t all offer the freedom you want.
First of all, you need something that gives you leverage. This translates not only into money, but the ability to choose from a variety of options, and the ability to depart at will from any situation which proves restrictive or negative overall. Leverage doesn’t consist of having a skill that there’s a lot of need for; plenty of shitty jobs need a lot of people to do them. Instead, it consists having a skill set for which the demand far exceeds the supply. The world may only need a handful of people to program flight control systems, but anyone can write a website login page.
Secondly, regardless of how much leverage and choice you have in the job market, you still have to do the job, and any restrictions that places on you will be unavoidable. If you work on offshore oil rigs, that’s where you have to be. If you work for stock brokerage firms, you have to live in NYC. If you provide network administration for an online service, you’re on call at all hours of the night. All of these things can get in the way of whatever it is you actually want to do in life.
Thirdly, you need to reduce vulnerability to being canceled. The closer the proximity, both real and metaphorical, that your income streams have to cancel culture, the more that enforcers of political orthodoxy can do to you. If you are a software engineer working for Amazon or Netflix, you need to keep your political opinions a secret. If you are the same software engineer working for Shell Oil, or Raytheon, no one cares.
Finally, you’re going to need to understand just what it is you are getting into. There are plenty of professions which have macho or interesting images that might appeal to young masculine dudes… but make sure you understand the difference between the hype and the daily reality. Many of these jobs have macho reputations precisely because they involve great physical hardship or mental stress… and this is not a perk or benefit. A job that you have to be super-tough to survive is not good for your long term health. If you want to train to be a badass, do so on your own time and at your own pace. Your body exists to serve you, not get ground into sausage over decades in exchange for a working man’s wage.
Once you are stably able to support yourself, your financial freedom is not so much a matter of your absolute income, as it is of the degree to which that income exceeds your spending habits. While money is pointless if you can’t spend it in some way, you need to be able to salt away resources if you hope to eventually be free of the need to answer to someone else for your financial support.
I won’t write an entire article on budgeting… the point is simply to understand that you need to plan and manage what skills you learn and sell, what and how you spend, and what your lifestyle expectations are, in order to free yourself both from financial dependence on any one person or organization, and from vulnerability to a culture that does not have your best interests at heart.
