Fighting the good fight.

When you cover all sorts of news and events from the point of view of authentic Catholicism (like we do here at Church Militant), a number of things jump out at you — patterns and trends, for example.

Every single day, we are amazed at the number of times we encounter Catholics in public life, for good or for bad (mostly for bad). It never ceases to amaze us just how many people in the political world are Catholic. The list is a little overwhelming. Not a night goes by, for example, on our Church Militant Evening News where we don't say, "Catholic such and such," or "so and so, who's Catholic."

There are the obvious ones of course — Biden, Pelosi, Kerry, etc. — and then the big second-tier names like Cuomo of New York, Chris Christie and that whole gang. There are also other big names who are less known as Catholics, like Ron DeSantis of Florida, Doug Ducey of Arizona, Gavin Newsom of California and Xavier Becerra (HHS director under Biden), to name just a few.

Why Church Militant exists.

Not that we're ever not real in the Vortex, but let's just take a step back and throw down for a moment. It is truly pathetic that Church Militant exists or, more to the point, that it even needs to exist. But the condition of the Church, specifically the Hierarchy, is so abhorrent and corrupt, there is no choice other than for the laity to rise up and respond.

With every email, tip, story, investigation, private conversation, article, even we — sitting here in our state-of-the-art media center that's dedicated to the work of the Church and serving Catholics — sometimes say, "Holy cow, is this really happening?" Remember, we have dozens of people here working every day fielding calls, checking out stories and so forth. We put in a total of close to 10,000 man-hours a month. It's a true labor of love to try and light a candle in the darkness of the evil engulfing the Church.

Theologically impure.

Perhaps the single most important impact of the Trump presidency was not immigration, taxes, the economy or restoring "America First" — all of which, by the way, are now being quickly dismantled by the communist Democrats. Instead, it was the drawing of the dividing line. A clear bright line was drawn right down the country, and people had to choose.

No more hiding in the murky gray area. Everyone has been called out, and sides have been chosen. Good. But one thing revealed in this has been the complete wimpiness of those who consider themselves "on the Right" — for the most part, a complete bunch of quislings who are willing to compromise their principles to achieve a good end.

The Marxists never compromise. They are completely pure of heart in their ambitions. It's just that their ambitions are evil. But give the Devil his due — they're relentless, never wavering, uncompromising. Those who say they follow Christ could learn a lesson from that. Marxism and evil have advanced because of their spirit of "take no prisoners" and "make no compromises."

It is, unfortunately, they who have taken to heart the line from King David in Psalm 51: "A pure heart create for me, O God." What lies at the heart of the constant battering of Christians and mounting losses is one single issue: theological compromise.

Through His creatures.

A favorite reference for Our Blessed Lord among Catholics and the 40,000 Protestant denominations is "Christ, Victor," but it is especially prevalent within Catholicism. In these perilous, uncertain and challenging times, it yields a great comfort in terms of the end.

However, let's look at this for a moment: Christ is God. As such, He has no rival because He's all-powerful, infinite, etc. That's kind of the philosophical definition of God. Satan is not God's rival. God has no rival.

Satan's rival is St. Michael. It is they who did battle following Lucifer's rebellion and, of course, the dragon lost. So since God has no rival, how precisely is He "victor"? He's not conquering anyone in the common understanding of being a victor, again because no one can challenge God.

You can defy Him. You can disobey Him. You can reject Him. But you can't challenge Him. It's not possible. He is infinite. Creatures are not. Game over before it even begins. So how is Christ "victor"?

And naive.

In the post-mortem (and we do mean post-mortem), not only of the election in the immediate aftermath, but of the nation, people have to face facts coldly in the face.

And if you will allow a personal anecdote here: I was on vigil duty at the house of a 10-year-old girl (here in metro Detroit) who was kidnapped and eventually found dead in a dumpster not far from her home about six weeks later.

For her memory and prayers for her soul, her name was Deanna Seifert, and she lived in the suburb of Warren — kidnapped in the dead of the night on Mother's Day while at a sleepover with her other little friends. During our coverage, we would keep vigil in the street every day, talking to neighbors and filing our reports.

One day, I was talking with a police officer in front of the house, and I said to him how hard it is to think that this kind of horrible thing could happen. His reply has never left me.

As 2020 mercifully comes to an end today, we should call it what it was — "the year of the Devil."

It's too emotionally draining to review all the evil that was exposed this past year, but suffice to say, think back just one year ago to New Year's Eve of 2019, and just ask yourself, "Could anyone have imagined that all this would happen?"

This was the year that communism went mainstream, and remember what communism is. It's a political system that hides behind concern for the downtrodden, but at its heart, hates humanity and its creator. How so many people could be fooled into accepting this system is still something of a mystery with many possible answers, all of which are probably correct to varying degrees.

If it weren't for the fact that this is now the new reality, we would be grateful to write off 2020, and happily flip the calendar. But seeing as how this is ultimately a spiritual war, faithful Catholics don't get to do that. In fact, we need to become more aggressive, particularly in the face of religious leaders — especially the bishops — who have simply caved to all this.

How can any of them escape damnation?

Last Friday, Church Militant produced a Post-Election Special as part of an ongoing commitment to keep you the most up to date on news and Catholic analysis regarding the election.

Near the wrap-up of that show, we told you not to be surprised if, over the upcoming weekend, the news media would begin declaring the demonic Biden the winner.

Well, sure enough, right on cue, all the major media fell like dominoes — with CNN going first, declaring Biden the next president. They must have thought that felt like sweet revenge against Trump, the bane of their existence.

That prompted the announcement (coordinated with the media) from the Biden camp that the president-elect would address the nation around 9 p.m. on Saturday, which of course he and his anti-Catholic, bigoted running mate (who will no doubt be plotting or at least hoping for Biden to die or resign) did.
