I'll concede to the BLM point, as your description of their religious fervour is actually quite accurate.

Check out the essay I linked in the AntiSJW tribe. It talks about the cultlike aspects of "woke" culture and compares/contrasts to malevolent implementations of religion and is probably very relevant to your current discussion.

@Crownofstars

I've always thought of the access to power and comfort in holding power as the purest essence of masculinity.

I'm not sure this is true. Quite often than not, people pursuing power are those needing it to make up for a deep feeling of inferiority.

Rollo's Alpha Buddha description of what is an "Alpha" male, comes closer to the core of masculinity. Or ol' Tyler Durden's notes about "being non-reactive". In a sense, they both talk about power, but in an inner sense. I think LR mostly implies external power, i.e. power over others.

Comically Serious

@Crownofstars

I wouldn't concern yourself with this too much. The intellectual, like the squid, tends generate massive clouds of ink when it feels threatened.

This particular tactic is a sort of scarecrow designed to discourage others from subjecting the humanities to a cost-benefit analysis. Since the work product of the humanities is ideas, it is dependent upon others to turn those ideas into something useful, if this can be done at all.

So naturally, they find the question "what is all this good for?" very disquieting. So they attempt to silence this question by saying "you're just not smart enough to understand all the great massive benefits that we can provide".

Which might intimidate some people into shutting up.

And it might intimidate others into picking up these same treatises and reading a lot, try to prove that they "understand" when they question the value.

But those less easily intimidated quickly realize that's not how cost benefit analysis works. Electrical engineers do not tell you that you must learn Laplace transformations before your car will start. They don't challenge you to disprove anything, or start angsting, like gothy teenagers or tortured artists, about how nobody really understands their brilliance.

They just say "look, I push the button and it goes". And whether you want to delve further in and understand why is up to you.

So, try thinking about it this way: Suppose you were to agree and amplify.

"Yep, I'm far too dumb to ever understand your smart-people books. Now, is there anything you can do for me?"

What do you suppose the answer would be, then?

Is there any update on when the forums will be open on here? I think the discussions are hard to follow since they move so quickly, It is hard to keep up with them. Vs just starting a new thread with a new topic.
