America is fracturing under immorality and corruption.

America is breaking apart. In some respects, it already has.

People are fleeing blue states at an increasing rate and taking up residence in red states. That often means leaving family, jobs and comfort behind. They don't want their children being raised in a tyrannical environment where immorality and corruption are exalted as goods, so, as has happened throughout human history, they flee.

The entire American experience, in fact, is predicated on that very reality — from the War of Independence to the waves of mostly Catholic immigrants a century or so later, normal average people wanting to be left alone to live their lives and raise their families in decency and honesty, not threatened with tyranny and all its associated limits on freedom (its phony justice system, prison and even executions).

Pushed far enough and inspired by protecting those they love, people start shooting at some point. That's why the findings of not one but two recent public surveys are so telling, that near majorities, 43% and 46%, believe there will be a civil war in the United States within the next 10 years.

Personally, given the trajectory, I don't believe it will be that long — again, if affairs continue at this pace. But that's just my personal opinion. People will only take so much for so long, especially when their children are in harm's way. But before the blood potentially flows, other avenues must be pursued. Whether they will be fruitful remains to be seen, and it is the proverbial case of crossing that bridge when we come to it.

A move to defend the Deposit of Faith.

Ever since the sham investigation by the Vatican into Bp. Joseph Strickland a couple weeks back, we've been thinking there's much more at work here than just going after a bishop who posts Catholic truth on social media.

You've got to follow the bouncing ball here — but really, only just a little. The order came from the Congregation of Bishops in Rome to get to Tyler, Texas, and tell him politely to shut up. Stop going on about the Deposit of Faith and Catholic truth and all that stuff. Shut up, Joe.

But ask the question, How did Rome, the newly appointed head of the bishops' congregation in Rome, even know of Strickland?

Well, obviously somebody alerted him (read: the enemies of the Church here in the United States, inside the Church). For the record, that doesn't exactly narrow down the list of suspects, but what we can be certain of is that whoever made the initial reports, it would not have happened if the likes of Cupich or DiNardo or even the apostolic nuncio had not been called first.

Whoever reported it, one or more of these cowardly backstabbers in the USCCB agreed with it and said it would be good.

But ask a further question: These backstabbing bishops not only resent orthodoxy; they also resent America. "America last" is their cheer — as we highlighted in some recent Vortex episodes, that belief in socialism/communism as being superior to capitalism goes way back in the DNA timeline of the U.S. bishops.

With the nation collapsing to what seems like the point of no return, and the Church as well like a dumpster fire, it is often hard to know what to do and how to respond. Well, we have some good news on this front.

First, just to get right to it, a very generous donor has contributed enough money in support of our annual Church Militant Strength and Honor Conference to help one person who applies with the conference fees as well as up to $1,000 in travel costs.

Additionally, she has contributed more to pay the conference registration fee for 17 additional men. Notice we said "she" — a very generous lady who understands the importance of men coming together and taking the lead in navigating these very turbulent waters.

The dates of the annual Strength and Honor Conference are Aug. 4–6, the first weekend in August as we normally do. And, of course, it's here in Detroit.

This is the first time we are offering scholarships for some men who would otherwise attend but are hamstrung somewhat by Biden's economy. So for some of you, there are no excuses: You have a very generous lady paying your way.

It's important spiritually and psychologically while you're under attack to know there are many allies you have — and, for quite a few guys, they tell us they feel pretty much alone in battle. A kind of emotional or spiritual PTSD can seem to set in, a weariness from the constant sense of having no brothers in arms.

It's certainly not the point of the conference, but it is a very welcome side effect to realize that, as a man, you are not alone. So during much of the downtime, relationships are being forged and some renewed.

They want him out of their way.

When Church Militant broke the news over the weekend that the Vatican had ordered an investigation of Bp. Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas, the Catholic social media world exploded, as it should have.

What other response should there be?

The Texas bishop has piled up scorn and private disdain from many of his brother bishops. Now that private disdain has bubbled over into the realm of public disdain, as he is now being "gone after" because of his orthodoxy and willingness to announce it.

He has deservedly earned the nickname "America's Bishop" for his simple manner of clear, direct speaking. And, of course, the hierarchy, as it is currently (and temporarily, we might add) composed, can never tolerate clarity.

A large part of the corruption happens because of the bishops' unofficial involvement in politics. They continually push for the agenda of the Democratic Party, point by point, but carefully sidestep the prickly situation of being actually officially political. Catholic, Inc., can't jeopardize that precious 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax status.

Fight or die!

There is a call to duty for Catholics to be involved heavily in the affairs of the world — meaning, the Church, as well, since She operates in the world. Pope Leo summed it up well, in the late 19th century: Catholics, he said, are made for combat. He penned those words in an encyclical that virtually no Catholic knows of, and even more reject: Sapientiae Christianae (Christians as Citizens), issued in 1890.

Pope Leo spent a good deal of his time, huge amounts of his time, dealing with social issues and the duty of Catholics to respond — meaning fight. He was doing this in reaction to the ever-increasing threat of the Marxist specter, still somewhat in its infancy, but, nonetheless, gaining strength.

He saw the lies in Marxism — communism — and declared that Catholics have a primary duty to rise up against this: "To recoil before an enemy, or to keep silence when from all sides such clamors are raised against truth, is the part of a man either devoid of character or who entertains doubt as to the truth of what he professes to believe."

Did you catch that? One more time for emphasis: "To recoil before an enemy, or to keep silence when from all sides such clamors are raised against truth, is the part of a man either devoid of character or who entertains doubt as to the truth of what he professes to believe."

We are human beings, a composite of body and soul, and that means our work as Catholics, our combat, must be waged both in the culture as well as against the evils within the Church. A saint once said, "The only way to win Heaven is to die fighting."

Fighting is what we are all about here at Church Militant. It's why so many hate us in the Church and now, more recently revealed, in the government as well. It's only fitting, though — only Church Militant has taken on both Marxism and modernism, so now they are each taking us on.

Someone has to be it.

In war, someone (some unit) must be "the tip of the spear," the first ones off the landing craft — the first to charge over the hill right into the teeth of enemy fire. They are the ones who clear the way for the entire rest of the assault force, which hopefully follows right behind them. In the war over truth, raging right now in the Church, Church Militant has been that tip of the spear.

We were the ones, and remain the ones, challenging evil upon evil by exposing the deeds of darkness — the financial corruption, along with the sexual, liturgical and theological corruption. Why do we do this? Because in war, there is no way to actually vanquish the enemy without attacking him — a full-on assault. Defense never wins; it only stalls the inevitable loss.

This is a lesson that so-called conservatives, in their desire to simply conserve and never actually advance, have never learned. The most aggressive always wins the war. No military geniuses went down in history because of their ability to defend.

The conservative movement, such as it is in the Church, is comprised of soft men, weak men, who are every bit as responsible for the loss of tens of millions of souls because of their complicity by their silence. It's not so much that there are evil men in the Church — there certainly are — but that they are unchallenged, even by those who should be challenging them and reporting on them.

Add another one to the list.

In the almost 18 years Church Militant has been around, we've shifted gears on a few occasions as events warranted and the situation called for it. When we first started, it was strictly catechesis, apologetics, Church history, etc. The flagship show was and remains The One True Faith — 118 hours of Church teaching on practically everything. We also, during that time, produced close to an additional 100 hours on apologetics, Church history and so forth.

Then, 2009 arrived, and Obama went to Notre Dame. That was the first of the gear shifting we underwent here. That revealed to us in stark terms that something was very wrong in the hierarchy. So we started out on that foray, adding to the already existing abundance of theological productions.

And so it was until the next major shift, 2016, when Hillary declared, on the campaign trail, that religious doctrines and teachings would have to change, in a speech before a radical feminist group. Then 2018 arrived and the revelations about Theodore McCarrick, and it became an all-out assault on the cover-up hierarchy, especially here in the United States.

For all of those years, developing what we have done here from the beginning (the massive theological content) and then adding all these other aspects on top of that, we were largely speaking out against heresy — all sorts of heresies. As you might imagine, that garnered no love from the hierarchy as they have been the recipient of much-needed criticism.

Now, in 2023, Church Militant has arrived at another such moment. Without sacrificing anything that has gone on before — the theology, politics, the investigations — it is now time to step forward and embrace the next aspect: the fight against schism. It will require, in certain ways, a different approach from how heresy is treated; but, nonetheless, they both lead innocent souls out of the Church.

Things get worse before they get better. Really?

A very holy, happy Christmas to you and all those dear to you. Surveying the collapse of nearly all that is good, certainly on a large scale, many people are stunned, shocked — especially those of us old enough to remember a Church and nation in much different shape. That we actually sit around and have debates, discussions or even just read headlines about 10-year-olds, for example, undergoing operations to change the appearance of their bodies to the opposite sex — it's completely nuts.  

No one could have thought, even one generation ago, that any of the current conditions would be so prevalent, yet here we are. All of this, of course, suggests that things will get worse. On that score, we often hear the expression "Things will get a lot worse before they get better." The first part of that is certainly true, but the back half, "before they get better," has in there an assumption not rooted in anything realistic.

Who says things will "get better" or that there is some magical trajectory that things always improve? Most of humanity is damned. It certainly doesn't apply in the spiritual war, so why would anyone think it applies in the natural order of events? It's a Pollyanna reading of historical events. Left to their own natural arrangement, things get worse, not better.
