Introduction:
Hi, I'm iloverozdoyle, and I'm an alcoholic. I was a frequent reader/seldom poster on r/theredpill and with the imminent ban have decided it's time to give thanks to this community by giving back and contributing.
I have been sober for 13 months using various tools, starting with a stint in an inpatient recovery center, 3 months of outpatient recovery, 90 meetings in 90 days, getting a sponsor, working the steps, online support forums, diving into my hobbies, and making sober friends.I still occasionally attend AA, and have also found value in SMART recovery meetings.
I was a daily drinker from the ages of 18-32 as well as a heavy abuser of cocaine, weed, and adderall. For the last 2 years of my drinking I made many half-assed attempts to stop drinking, but never succeeded on my own. On July 4, 2018, as I sat alone in my house, drunk and pathetic after losing my LTR and spending independence day without friends, I finally had enough and called a friend who I knew was like me, but sober. The next day this friend picked me up and took me to the hospital to detox where I was checked in with a BAC of .32 (after sleeping it off!!!). From there I went to rehab and the rest is history.
Most of all, I want this place to be one where those who are struggling with addiction, new in sobriety, or are just curious/questioning can come to receive support and advice.
Beyond that, anything and everything related to sobriety is open for discussion including (but not limited to) books/literature, sobriety as it relates to game and dating, scientific studies on the topic of addiction, etc.
