Uncensored discussion of the four-year dark winter predicted by and carried out by Biden

This book has an interesting take on the humans cause an ice age trope that I think people here would enjoy. Radical environmentalists come to power and enact a luddite energy policy to combat global warming, which ironically triggers a new ice age and rapid glaciation. The heroes work to rescue two space station crewmen shot down by the luddites in power and return them with a variety of much needed provisions, which means trying to cobble together a functional rocket in a post-technical age. The space station has come to represent a sanctuary of Libertarian and scientific minded people. Amazon link as the website kept breaking the first one I tried.

@SeasonedRP and @destraht's point is that the elites went along with a narrative because it was convenient for them to take more control over people long before there was enough evidence that their models were right.
And my main thesis remains, it wasn't a fucking narrative, the particulates and aerosols actually were visibly blocking out the sun as seen by everyone with eyes and memory of how the air quality goes over the years where they live, and a measured multi-decadal cooling trend across large areas started to emerge despite the constantly rising CO2.

@MentORPHEUS @SeasonedRP and @destraht's point is that the elites went along with a narrative because it was convenient for them to take more control over people long before there was enough evidence that their models were right. It's very much like covid19 and the vaccines. Instead of waiting to see what really is going on they pretend to react immediately but they had plans to control people anyway and are using this as an excuse. So you are trying to argue whether climate change is happening but that's not what @SeasonedRP and @destraht are talking about exactly, they are saying that the political debates surrounding it are dishonest.
I think that the environment is being fucked up one way or the other. I'm not denying the climate is changing. More importantly to me than temperatures is the amount of cancer causing pollution and the pollution that kills manhood. Literally because of plastics.
At some point you have to trace the problems back to some basic origins. Don't look at just one politician at a time. The whole system is broken to begin with. Come on, stupid people choosing leaders? Who do you think the children are going to choose? It's going to be a clown, someone who can dance and sing and entertain them. If you can't get smart and good people in power it won't work no matter what. It's worked before with a philosophy test. Why not now?
Another stupid thing is the West since the Enlightenment, which is the greatest branding of all time. So many bad ideas came back from their Roman imperial graves. Who the fuck cares what those pederasts thought? And not to mention the best of the Greeks knew democracy was a bad idea. They killed the commons and privatized everything. What's good about the Enlightenment? The scientific advancement? The same thing that lead to our over dependence on oil? Carcinogens everywhere since the 19th century? Liberals and conservatives both like the Enlightenment for different reasons but they're all wrong. The science was unnecessary for living a happy life and the political stuff is the same thinking that leads eventually to the family breaking down and women being the way they are today. Once you go down the retarded equality route, you can't deny it to be people, including women, no matter how unequal they really are.
@Antelope @TiberiusBravo87 @AFTSOV because why not.

@slutmagazine The book and movie were about global warming so yeah. If you meant to ask if he talked about global cooling in there I couldn't answer because I haven't watched/read it.

I know I'm late to this but didn't Al Gore talk about global warming in inconvenient truth as recently as 2006?

@SeasonedRP The idea peaked by the 60s in academia, though in typical fashion Pop Culture kept bringing it up in lay articles in a distribution curve lagging academic press by more than a decade. By the 1980s, the talk of provoking an ice age was not that it would come due to pollution, but in the form of nuclear winter.
I'd like to hear exactly WHAT show Carl Sagan "did about it," and when. I don't believe his predictions on a global cooling event match the general claim we're discussing, nor do they fit your timeline.
You also dismissed that aerosols and particulates were a cooling problem without evidence, when I provided before and after pictures of this pollution blocking light across a distance of mere city blocks.

@MentORPHEUS Scientific American says by about 1980 they realized temps were warming and not cooling. If it were early 70s, I wouldn't remember it and it probably wouldn't have been in the curriculum for kids that young. I didn't grow up in an area on the cutting edge of such things, so you might have been learning things different from what I was learning.

@MentORPHEUS Wiki says mid 70s and there was a Newsweek article in 75. That sounds about right, as it would take a bit for that info to get in school curricula. Nuclear winter was the early 80s scare. The Wiki article does downplay the hysteria and acts like everyone knew all along that temps were actually rising, which is not how I remember it being presented.

@MentORPHEUS I learned about it social studies class in elementary school in 5th or 6th grade, which would have been 78 or 79, and I don't remember it being past tense. Seems like Carl Sagan did a show about it too. Regardless, the notion that there was going to be an ice age due to human activities but then, within the course of a few years, some brave regulators and activist groups saved the planet, sounds more like a plot of a comic book than anything that could actually happen.

Stage one. Say you're unhappy with the country. Stage two, people tell you to leave. Stage three, you tell them that you can't because said country made you too poor to realistically go somewhere else.
