It feels like we can draw a pretty direct line from the Enlightenment -> Death of God -> Death of Masculine Rituals -> Stunted Masculinity, not enough role models -> Bitches / large parts of society going crazy.

Now it seems we live in an age where our best bet is to try build ourselves up alone and form a likeminded circle afterwards.
