Wiped out in a flash.

I'm Michael Voris, coming to you from our autumn Retreat at Sea, traveling up the coast of New England and stopping along significant places in the history of the Catholic Church.

Today we are in Boston, ground zero for the unearthing of the homosexual-clergy child sex abuse scandal that has and continues to devastate the Church in the country (and really throughout large portions of the Church).

More on that evil a little later.

The history of the Church in the United States has been one overall of extraordinary compromise by the U.S. hierarchy with the prevailing decay of morality. And nowhere might that be more evident than right here in Boston, going back to the 1960s, as the sexual revolution was getting a full head of steam.

The cardinal at the time, Richard Cushing, was extremely powerful, so much so that politicians feared him. One bad word from him and their careers would be over in the state.

In the 1940s, as the nascent birth control movement was still finding its footing, some state lawmakers introduced a bill here to legalize it. Cushing came out strongly against it, and it went down to a thunderous defeat as 57% of voters rejected the measure.

Fast forward 20 years and Massachusetts was the sole remaining state where birth control was still illegal. Again, the measure came up, and this time, Cushing folded like a cheap suit. Why? Because of the influence of a Jesuit priest who was in his ear — John Courtney Murray.

Two geographic centers for Catholics in the New World.

I'm Michael Voris coming to you from on board our fall Retreat at Sea, trekking along the New England Coast and focusing on the very beginnings of Catholicism here in the United States.

There really are two geographical centers of Catholic introduction to the New World. One was the Deep South, meaning the Gulf Coast area and extending further south into the Caribbean, Mexico and so forth.

Then there is the Atlantic Seaboard area. What may perhaps be a little note many Catholics don't know is this — neither area was especially "Catholic" in the way we might first think of it. For example, almost 200 years after Columbus landed in the modern-day Bahamas in 1492, the Catholic population of the New World was pretty tiny.

And especially in the English colonies (with their noted hatred for Catholics), the population was beyond meager in terms of numbers.

...

The southern colonies of Maryland, Virginia, Carolina and Georgia all had the established Church of England as the State religion. Only in Maryland was there breathing space for Catholics.

Maryland was founded in 1634 as a colony by Lord Baltimore for Catholics in England seeking refuge from persecution. So religious tolerance was granted, but it was a tolerance that permitted huge numbers of Protestants to flow in.

Eventually, they captured the House of Delegates in 1649, and tolerance for Catholics was brought to an end. Catholics were despised, persecuted and had laws erected against them in the colonial days.

For example, in Virginia, if a Catholic sought public office, he could be arrested, charged and fined 1,000 pounds of tobacco. In Maryland, it was illegal for a couple to be married by a Catholic priest. And so the list goes on, up and down the colonies.

In 11 of the 13 original colonies, Catholics were legally maltreated. And on a point of order here, it was not largely owing to dogma and doctrinal differences. It was the idea that the pope was a sovereign ruler as well, and the belief he would try to extend his rule to them as well.

Catholics begin it; Protestants end it.

I'm coming to you from our Fall Retreat at Sea, where our theme is "Catholics were here first" — meaning the New World — specifically, the lands that eventually became the United States.

However, despite the arrival of both Spanish and French Catholic explorers at roughly the same time, it was the British Protestants that prevailed in overrunning the eastern seaboard and eventually the continent. Why?

Catholics were here almost 100 years earlier, so you'd think that with a gigantic head start like that the Protestants wouldn't have stood a chance. The answer lies in the history of the circumstances.

Antonio Gramsci's anti-Catholic plan proved Joseph Stalin wrong.

In order for communism to succeed in the West, a massive deconstruction, a demolishing of the culture, would have to occur. However, the commies were not operating in a vacuum, and they knew it. You can't just blow into town and start uprooting everything.

Perhaps a better way to visualize this would be to think in terms of tipping the scales. When one side is greatly lower, you can get the scales to tip by either just adding more weight to the other side or slowly adding more weight while at the same time subtracting weight from the opposite side.

Of course, the second method requires more time and patience and planning, but, at the end, it is the more effective way to actually flip the scales. This was the plan the communists put into effect.

Ultimately, it was all about transforming society slowly, methodically and extremely effectively, so that as one generation gave way to the next, the transformation would hardly be noticeable. It was an extremely ambitious and, most importantly, wide-ranging strategy, one that required capturing various institutions of society at approximately the same time.

If you think in terms of, say, planning a big meal with all sorts of dishes, you need to make sure that the timing is right — all the food has to hit the table at the same time.

Because they are different dishes, some require much advance prep work; others, not as much. But they all need to come off the stove and out of the oven at the same instant. Well, the same is true of the commie plan to undermine the culture.

What all the institutions actually had in common was their at least tacit acceptance of Christian principles (and, specifically, Catholic principles) on how a well-ordered society should run and look.

Gramsci clashed with Joseph Stalin on the issue of what was the greater challenge to creating the "workers' paradise," capitalism or the Catholic Church. For Gramsci, it was clear: Catholicism, because he understood the vital knitting together of the other institutions relied on the underlying view of man promoted and taught by the Church.

The tragedy of American veterans returning from Vietnam.

Obviously, here in the United States, this is Memorial Day weekend, where we honor those who gave the last measure in defense of freedom.

One war in the history of wars involving U.S. fighting men, the Vietnam War, comes with a black stain, and it is beyond time to talk about it. It was unpopular because the news media took advantage of turbulent times and began pushing the "America sucks" narrative, even going so far as to lambast our soldiers as "killers of children."

It was in those days that the Democrat politicians of today, like John Kerry, started cutting their teeth on the anti-American messaging. It was the first time that they aligned with media on a large scale and began pushing what has now, 50 years later, become their foundational message: America is bad.

But what about the experience of those young men who came home to scorn and ridicule because the media had labeled them as reprehensible (lies, of course)? If I sound like I have a dog in this fight, it's because I do. As many of you might know, I grew up in a U.S. military family.

My dad was in the Air Force and stationed in the Philippines during the last years of the war. The American POWs were flown from captivity to freedom and processed at Clark Airbase before being put on flights that eventually landed at Travis Air Base in northern California, where we were stationed stateside.

For quite a few weeks, servicemen were flown into Travis and processed out of the military. I saw quite a few of those planes landing. The young men — who had seen their brothers blown up and shot — were not monsters. They were young, brave guys who got caught in the crossfire of the beginning of the tearing down of America.

And, having achieved veteran status, were then dumped on by the still-forming communist contingent known as the Democratic Party. Those ungrateful, scheming politicians climbed over the bodies of our returning servicemen, as well as the "KIAs," to advance themselves and their emerging communist agenda.

That’s what's needed in the Church.

With the death and burial of Pope Benedict now in the past, whatever small modicum of decorum or standing on protocol that the crazies in the Vatican and throughout the larger Church may have exercised will surely be gone now.

The machinery of the Church has been overrun from within and turned into a propaganda outfit for the new world order run by the likes of Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum, Joe Biden, Justin Trudeau and many others.

In fact, the co-opting of the Church was a necessary step in all this for them because it "baptized" their efforts, putting a respectable face on super-control efforts like climate change, the destruction of borders, pandemics and so forth.

When Antonio Gramsci founded the Italian Communist Party a hundred years ago, he wrote that the biggest obstacle to world domination would be the Catholic Church.

The Church is not only universal (which is the definition of the Greek word from which we derive "Catholic") in its teachings and doctrines and theology, it's also just plain old normal universal; it's everywhere.

8,000 Years Ago, 17 Women Reproduced for Every One Man - Pacific Standard

Once upon a time, 4,000 to 8,000 years after humanity invented agriculture, something very strange happened to human reproduction. Across the globe, for every 17 women who were reproducing, passing on genes that are still around today—only one man did the same.

"It wasn't like there was a mass death of males. They were there, so what were they doing?" asks Melissa Wilson Sayres, a computational biologist at Arizona State University, and a member of a group of scientists who uncovered this moment in prehistory by analyzing modern genes.

Another member of the research team, a biological anthropologist, hypothesizes that somehow, only a few men accumulated lots of wealth and power, leaving nothing for others. These men could then pass their wealth on to their sons, perpetuating this pattern of elitist reproductive success. Then, as more thousands of years passed, the numbers of men reproducing, compared to women, rose again. "Maybe more and more people started being successful," Wilson Sayres says. In more recent history, as a global average, about four or five women reproduced for every one man.

It's easy to identify them "by their fruits."

Joe Biden sees the entire world through the prism of January 6. In fact, his whole Marxist, Soros-backed crowd weaponizes January 6 to eradicate all enemies of the Democratic Party, much like Hitler did with the burning of the Reichstag.

On February 27, 1933, the German government building burned to the ground due to arson, with the arsonists conveniently never having been arrested or identified. The incident gave Hitler the ammo he needed (and probably caused) to bring about massive government crackdown and the railroading of civic freedoms: censorship of the press, abolishing peaceful assembly, you name it, it was all wiped out, virtually within hours of the event, while the Reichstag was still smoldering.

If this all sounds way too familiar, it should. Hitler did what Biden is doing now. Or better stated, Biden is doing the same thing. Hitler claimed an impending overthrow of the government by communists, the "domestic terrorists" of the day. Biden and the 21st-century communists are now labeling anyone who disagrees with them a "domestic terrorist" who is intent on overthrowing the democracy.

Biden (or rather those who control him) sets the agenda and gives the orders, and Attorney General Merrick Garland then executes those orders, prosecuting anyone they can get who even happened to be in Washington, D.C. on January 6.

Don't mess with the leprechaun.

With college football season about to start and with all the brain-dead, woke individuals walking around in their zombie mode, it was only a matter of time until one among them noticed the "ethnic" reference to the Irish in the mascot and sports team of the "Fighting Irish" at Notre Dame.

For the record, Notre Dame itself did a little "polishing" of its own name a number of years back. We graduates from back in the day recall it used to be the "Fightin' Irish," not the more sedate "Fighting Irish."

The quasi-slang word "fightin'" was meant to convey a kind of street-brawling, somewhat-uneducated commoner. "Fighting" is a little more refined. "Domers," as Notre Dame students and alumni are called, can now associate with the more refined, having dialed back on the lower-class moniker of "Fightin'" by adding the "g" to the end of it. But that's just a little history to show that even Notre Dame, when convenient, will add to its own history in order to subtract from its own lore.

However, when the zombies came after the name and the leprechaun (the Notre Dame mascot) a couple of weeks ago, Notre Dame fired back, telling the zombies to, as the Irish say, kiss off.
