More Catholic than most bishops.

Throughout all of Catholic history, there have been multiple conversions of the intellectual kind. Saint Augustine, of course, immediately springs to mind, along with Anglican prelate John Henry Newman and so forth.

Of course, behind the scenes, grace is always operative, but that grace operates on some aspect of the person, and, quite often, that is immediately the intellect.

In the here and now, a couple of prominent personalities come to mind. One is Dr. Jordan Peterson, who more and more with every utterance is sounding as Catholic as can be.

A big change is coming.

They often say in politics that a president's legacy is whatever legislation he signs into law or the justices he gets on the U.S. Supreme Court. Long after he's left office, the stamp he may have placed on the high court will long survive him.

If you scoot across the Atlantic and land in Rome, you'll see that a similar happening is underway when it comes to Pope Francis naming cardinals.

In what appeared to be a much longer stay last month in the hospital for Pope Francis — and what also looked like something much more serious, up to and including a heart attack (and may very well have been) — talk began circulating about his dying and then, of course, who would be the next pope.

How to destroy America.

Looking at the collapse of the culture as well as the Church, many people are left scratching their heads — especially those of us who grew up in a very different America.

But just as it's intellectually off base to blame the crisis in the Church on Pope Francis, it's just as off base to blame the collapse of the nation on just one or a few influencers.

The collapse of the Faith stretches back decades — many more decades than most people stop to consider.

For example, Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven were two radical professors of sociology at Columbia University back in the 1960s. The aim of the husband–wife duo was to manufacture a crisis by overwhelming the welfare system with a flood of new applicants.

They correctly reasoned that this would force the government to adopt various policies that were radical leftist at their core, disguised as wanting to "help the poor."

Always beware of those who want to "help the poor," especially when they live in luxury. What we are witnessing in America today is their plan coming to fruition — actually, more than coming to fruition, nearing its completion.

The heart of the Cloward–Piven plan is this: violent revolution for the sake of socialism is not needed when, instead, you can simply so burden the welfare system that it collapses under its own weight.

Bad news for believers.

There's a secret attack going on against religion, and it's being launched by the bishops' favorite Catholic — the one their silence helped get into the Oval Office.

For everyone who thinks Congress and the White House and the courts are three coequal branches of government, then you must be living in a state that has legalized pot. The imperial presidency is running amok in a war against God (which is to say, more specifically, Christianity and, directly, Catholicism).

The executive branch, meaning the president and all his cabinets and departments, wields enormous power and is able to use that power almost secretly — through an instrument known as "notice of proposed rulemakings."

What that translates down to for all the non-bureaucrats out there is this: Of the millions of rules and regulations that exist that began with Congress or the White House, each executive department is able to go into those rules and "amend" them. That means redefine, broaden, narrow the scope, and so forth.

Where things stand for the pro-life movement.

If we can use a word from the communist propaganda machine, there's a lot of misinformation out there. And, yes, misinformation from communists is always lies, even if there might be some kernel of truth here or there.

But, being honest, there's also a lot of misinformation in the Catholic world as well. And it's not usually told to deliberately lie to you — usually. But that still doesn't make it reliable. One of the things we here at Church Militant have noticed, especially in the last few years, is a proliferation of commentary and stories that have no context, sometimes aren't even true or at best are nothing more than news to tickle your ears.

For that reason, to combat that (as well as to provide you much-needed context to help you better understand the world around you), we have brought back our popular The Download program. The discussions are very wide-ranging, but they help you connect the dots and detect the patterns, the trends that really dictate our lives.

'Radical Catholic ideology.'

What is "radical Catholic ideology"? The question dominated the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee hearings this month.

Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J.: "What is radical Catholic ideology? Why were we looking into that? What's that about?" 

That's a good question. Unfortunately, the FBI thug trying to avoid perjuring himself since he was under oath sidestepped the entire matter.

Christopher Dunham, acting assistant director, FBI: "I'm not able to speak to specifics of the actual product. I think that's what the internal review that I referenced earlier." 

Van Drew: "Doesn't that concern you?" 

Dunham: "Certainly, I agree with the director's statements that the product was inexcusable." 

...

That Vortex was Feb. 15. Press reports about the leak started circulating about a week earlier. The leak itself occurred a month before that. So if the FBI is so embarrassed and disavowing of their dossier, why has it taken them so long to get to the bottom of it? Do they still not know who, as in what agent, put this together? Really? Three months later?

They can kick down the doors of pro-lifers with almost no notice. They can raid a former president's private residence pretending they finally found the smoking gun within minutes. But within their own agency, they can't figure out who researched, prepared and authorized a report violating the First Amendment rights of faithful Catholics?

Fail in this call and you are damned.

Anyone Catholic who is not about the business of evangelization might never entertain a serious hope of the beatific Vision.

Those words do not originate with Church Militant — although we wholeheartedly agree, which is why we are presenting them to you. They come from Fr. John Hardon, an old-school Jesuit who died in 2000 here in Detroit, despised by the modernist clique that runs the archdiocese here.

Fr. Hardon has been named a servant of God, the first step on the road to sainthood. The holy priest made no bones about the extremely weighty responsibility Catholics bear when it comes to spreading the good news of salvation and the necessity of the Catholic Church.

In so saying and doing, he echoed the words of Our Lord: "To whom much is given, much will be demanded." Too few Catholics — even among those who know the Faith, sufficiently at least — either realize or accept the call of duty to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

There is almost zero missionary sense, much less zeal, for saving souls. And let's be very clear here: There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church. Yet way too many Catholics themselves are offended by that, anticipating the offense others will take at it.
