Mein Kampf

Mein Kampf 'My Struggle' is a 1925 autobiographical manifesto by Nazi Party leader Adolf Hitler. The book outlines many of Hitler's political beliefs, his political ideology and future plans for Germany and the world. Volume 1 of Mein Kampf was published in 1925 and Volume 2 in 1926. The book was edited first by Emil Maurice, then by Hitler's deputy Rudolf Hess.

Hitler began Mein Kampf while imprisoned following his failed coup in Munich in November 1923 and a trial in February 1924 for high treason, in which he received a sentence of five years. Although he received many visitors initially, he soon devoted himself entirely to the book. As he continued, he realized that it would have to be a two-volume work, with the first volume scheduled for release in early 1925. The governor of Landsberg noted at the time that "he [Hitler] hopes the book will run into many editions, thus enabling him to fulfill his financial obligations and to defray the expenses incurred at the time of his trial." After slow initial sales, the book became a bestseller in Germany following Hitler's rise to power in 1933.

After Hitler's death, copyright of Mein Kampf passed to the state government of Bavaria, which refused to allow any copying or printing of the book in Germany. In 2016, following the expiry of the copyright held by the Bavarian state government, Mein Kampf was republished in Germany for the first time since 1945, which prompted public debate and divided reactions from Jewish groups. A team of scholars from the Institute of Contemporary History in Munich published a German language two-volume almost 2,000-page edition annotated with about 3,500 notes. This was followed in 2021 by a 1,000-page French edition based on the German annotated version, with about twice as much commentary as text.

Esther Vilar's classic polemic about the relationship between the sexes caused a sensation. Vilar's perceptive and often very funny look at the battle between the sexes has earned her death threats. But Vilar's intention is not misogynous: she maintains that only if women and men look at their place in society with honesty, will there be any hope for change.

US cybersecurity agency fighting for global censorship.

It's been dubbed the "censorship industrial complex" — referring to the cooperation between Biden's government Giant Tech like Google and social media giants like Facebook to shut down any opposition to their worldview.

How does it work? It started off with the effort to protect against foreign enemies, both terrorists as well as their interference in American domestic policies and campaigns. Federal agencies such as the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, formed specifically to fight against those threats, are more and more being directed not toward foreign enemies but toward private Americans. And it's gone into high gear under the Biden administration, with relentless assaults against freedom, so much so that in an effort to sidestep the Constitution's First Amendment protections against government trampling those rights, Biden and his cronies simply went to Giant Tech and Big Social Media and asked them to do their dirty work for them.

Giant Tech and Big Social Media happily complied.

So somewhat subtle (but not that subtle) methods of censorship and outright canceling are now employed through throttling, visibility filtering, the release of algorithms that manipulate search engine results, labeling and flagging. Giant Tech and Big Social Media (with Biden helping direct them — unofficially, of course) have set up a facade of "fact-checkers" and "experts in disinformation" who virtually all come from mainstream media outlets. You know, the fake news guys.

These are the same "experts" who insisted just before the past election that the Hunter Biden laptop story was "Russian disinformation," advising Giant Tech and Big Social Media, whom they work for, not to allow the story to be found and to block it, meaning not let the American people know about it.

It turns out, they are the "disinformation" gang, because the story is true. Of course, they knew it was true back then. They didn't want it influencing the vote, so they lied and manipulated the technology to keep you from knowing it.

Power in your hands.

Despite various court rulings in cases touching on government censoring free speech, the reality remains that private companies do it left, right and center. And private includes social media as well as Big Tech companies.

What many people don't stop and think about is that the First Amendment only protects against the government stifling your speech. It says nothing about companies doing so. And so companies do. Routinely.

They also simply refuse to do business with you if the censorship gang gets to them and accuses you of anything they don't like. That has happened to us here at Church Militant too many ways to count, from Amazon Smile crossing us off their "acceptable charities" list (even though Planned Parenthood is still on) to video hosting service Vimeo bouncing us a few years back, to our own long-time business insurance company dropping us because of our conservative output. Our former accounting agency did the same, as the list just goes on, from direct mail companies to billboard advertising to internet advertising — one by one, across the board.

The stifling of Church Militant has truly been something to behold. It's an enforcement of the woke brand, without it being done by the government.

But since corporate America, including social media giants, all see eye to eye with the Marxist swamp in D.C., they do the politicians' bidding because they are in perfect lockstep with them. In fact, this is actually more effective than the government trying to do it, because the companies are essentially bulletproof, proving the old adage that there's more than one way to skin a cat.

They can deny service and they don't have to tell you why. And that's just the way it is. If you don't like it, sue 'em. But after a few years as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars, don't be surprised if you lose anyway.

So political conservatives, including many orthodox Catholics, have been relegated to the land of "make it up as you go along." We've sort of been forced to. There are various topics and various words you simply cannot say out loud on major social media platforms or you'll get shut down, get a strike against you, canceled, whatever.

So-called hate speech to be prosecuted?

During the midterms in 2022, when the red wave almost entirely failed to materialize except in very isolated pockets, one of the remarkable shouldn't/wasn’t supposed-to-happen things is the flip of some states to more blue. Perhaps the biggest example of that is right here where Church Militant is headquartered: Michigan.

In one night, the entire state government went from a medium shade of purple to deep blue as the communist Democrats seized back control of the state legislature, affecting the much coveted "trifecta" — control of both chambers and the governorship. With the Gov. Gretchen "lockdown" Whitmer winning reelection — as well as her Marxist maven counterparts, Attorney General Dana Nessel and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson — the Marxist Michigan monopoly is fully complete.

And as we predicted on election night (right here on this set), that was/is a big, giant danger to everything that faithful Catholics, as well as other people of goodwill, hold dear. True to form, the Marxists have introduced a bill into the state legislature, with the full support of the commie elites, that will destroy free speech of religious and political conservatives.

Of course, it's all under the guise of stamping out so-called hate speech. And we all know what that means: a euphemism for conservative speech. Any speech about truth that Marxists despise is labeled "hate," and under the proposed law, it will be punishable with fines, prison time or both. And before someone says, "That will never hold up in court. Just sue them," consider this.

First, going to court, even in the case of a slam dunk like our ongoing case in Baltimore, is a tremendous drain on mental and financial resources. Having lived in lawsuit land now for the past two years, even a win (and Church Militant is so far 4-0) in court drains away valuable time from the mission. We are here to promote the Faith for the salvation of souls and help turn around the culture to whatever degree we can in terms of people's thinking.

Arresting political opposition?

There is a gigantic case in federal court that is a test case for Biden's Department of Justice to squelch free speech under threat of voter alienation. And it's the most important case you've never heard of. And for Catholics, still reeling from the news about the secret FBI dossier targeting the faithful, this case bears very close scrutiny.

It's a little involved, and we don't want to go too far afield, but — just for background — in the run-up to the 2016 election, a man by the name of Douglass Mackey went under the Twitter identity of "Ricky Vaughn" and routinely posted satirical memes and tweets against Hillary Clinton. But one got him in trouble with the DOJ.

And here it is: It suggested Hillary supporters could just skip actually voting and instead just text a code and vote that way. It said, as you can see, "Avoid the line. Vote from home. Text Hillary to [the provided number]." It was a joke. And, at the time, everyone saw it that way — especially given multiple other political satires Mackey had posted under his Ricky Vaughn pseudonym.
