#devnews So the April fool's joke was funny, integrated chat-gpt into our back end and let it interact with our users. But the idea that we've started using AI to detect spam wasn't a joke-- in fact, it's the development time we put into the spam detection that let us easily implement a joke with bots.
Ironically, I had to turn off spam detection because the bots were instantly detected and removed.
It was a seriously funny experience for our team to watch.
We are now back with ai detection for spam and we plan to implement plain language rules detection to the forums.
I may shut off /t/playground at some point because it costs money to run the ai integration but it's live for the next week or so, definitely play with it if you haven't.
As an interesting note, we put a lot of work into the bot's prompts and still couldn't manage to override the developers' safety net overrides that immediately take over when you suggest anything remotely equal for women... That's going to be a big part of ai going forward and I have some thoughts on that I'll address in the next few days.
Anyway, cheers. Hope you all enjoyed the joke
Read More#devnews We will be publishing our final revision on the full-transparency spam/botnet report shortly. Sorry for the delay, progress has been monumental on reducing spam and bots.
#devnews We suffered another bot incursion this morning, however it appears some of the new AI-assisted language detection was able to nip it before it took ahold.
We're getting into seriously future tech right now.
We are still going to be releasing a full transparency report soon, to give the community an idea of exactly what we're up against.
#devnews made some changes about how the textbox scrolling works on mobile. Let me know how it works (or if something breaks).
After careful consideration and close monitoring of traffic on TRP.RED I have come to the decision that the ads here suck balls and I'm getting rid of them on TRP.RED.
#devnews Discussion: Advertisements on TRP.RED
Ads are performing pretty well on FORUMS.RED but are doing terribly on TRP.RED. My initial thought is, why shit up the website if there is no benefit to be had. My other thought is that the ads are not in the top half of the website and this is known to cause ads to perform worse.
Moving them up, however, would definitely shit up the site a lot more.
However, donations are not covering server costs. You may have noticed TRP.RED is operating much more quickly recently, due to a few major back end changes -- not the least of which was increasing our hardware resources.
So, I'm inclined to discontinue TRP.RED ads, or at least make them less intrusive. But that means what little revenue we're generating will be even littler.
Thoughts from the community who use this site?
Read More#devnews I believe we've found the source of the problem- it was hardware / hypervisor related. The fact that /t/whereareallthegoodmen is getting more popular is a coincidence. You don't get to claim responsibility afterall. Sorry guys. @moorekom @Typo-MAGAshiv @goodmansaysfuckyou
Big #devnews we have improved the search to find statuses on trp.red.
It uses a mix of text search but also allows you to use + / - characters to narrow your search. For instance, test -redpillschool should return posts with the word test but no occurrence of redpillschool.
Similarly, if you add a plus symbol (+) before a term, it must be included to show up.
