Bro, if we get vaccinations up to 70% (which looks like it'll happen soon), I'm pretty sure lockdowns will start to lift.

Nobody is thinking we'll ever have zero cases. That's a fantasy and wouldn't take into account the general world picture.

Now, of course the push-back to that is 'but you're having to be vaccinated in order to get to that 70% mark. See, YOU'RE UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE GOVERNMENT!!'.

I don't give a shit. For right now, if getting a vaccine gets us to the 70% mark and we open back up, great.

If it turns into booster shots, or more lockdowns due to a few cases, I'll deal with that shit when it happens.

I think I'm careful to predict that it will turn into continuous lockdowns and 57 shots, etc.

Governments do need an economy and population that wants to vote them back in.

Nah, I've never heard anything about doing that with social media. It was an old parliamentary enquiry that didn't go anywhere. Like the majority of enquiries.

In terms of lockdowns. Yeah, they suck, as they have for much of the world. Lucky my state was covid free for a long time and now has about 200 cases. We should be out of lockdown soon.

For Sydney, their government is retarded. Didn't take measures soon enough, and their cases have skyrocketed. People need to get over any 'anti-vax' conspiracy bullshit and get the jab.

For Victoria, that state went through a huge outbreak, but they got back to zero cases. With their most recent outbreak, it's understandable the government has locked them down again. They want vaccinations up before they let the public free with the Delta strain running rampant.

Overall, we're not doing anything that differently to what the rest of the world has done either now or in the recent past.

It's more just amazing watching new reports from American new networks. They'd have you believe we're all just condoning 1984 taking place before our eyes.

The news is fucked. It just makes me laugh how quickly news networks will forget what their own countries have been through and go 'look, look over there at how terrible they are'.

This is representative of another 'fake news' sort of shit. The media has drummed up a narrative recently of 'Australians are condoning and allowing all the evils which will plague world'.

Calm the fuck down. I watched some of the American news reports recently and how over-the-top they were. All I could think was 'have you guys not realised the absolute fucking shit show America has been for God knows how long, with Antifa, the radical left, BLM, riots, faggots, school shootings, demented Presidents etc'?

We don't sit back and say 'look at all these things the American people condone'.
