Discussion about the 5th gen war
@destraht Gotta be specific, just benzo's? All classes of anxiety drugs? It's a very broad claim. If they say benzo's cause cognitive decline then I'd agree, everyone in the last generation of my family who took it has dementia and everyone who did not take it does not have dementia. It's a very clear cause and effect which is why I try to convince my family to not touch benzo's because if you start it you may get to the point of my grandma who literally starts dying the moment she misses 2 doses.
@TiberiusBravo87 I've never had a problem with DVDs scratching in the player. Maybe I've just been lucky.
Regardless, if you're going to be sailing the high seas anyway, you might look into putting together a private media server. I've thought about that before but I like the extra security of having physical discs that can't crash and lose all their data.
@woodsmoke I am considering the Bluray collection or piracy. I don't buy DVD's. No matter what they will scratch, especially since I use a PS3 and PS4 as glorified bluray players. The way they work it shouldn't scratch discs but it could. Bluray uses a blue spectrum beam, lower frequency which means they can add a TDK scratch-proof coating and it still reads unlike a red beam.
Remember game shops offering polishing services for XBox and PS2 games? Bluray discs fix that, never had one scratch. You'd have to like take a key to it or something else deliberate to get past their TDK coating.
@destraht Too bad Commiefornia does that, but here in Freedomland aka the Showme State we just slapped down the insane shouting mob about abortions by saying birth control is still an option, and that abortion should not be used as birth control like they have been doing.
@TiberiusBravo87 Older shows like that I just plan to buy the DVDs and make do. I couldn't count the pores on Sarah Michell Gellar's face when I fell in love with BtVS back in the day, I can't imagine being able to do so now would appreciably improve the experience.
Plus, to your point, I've read the HD upscaling was done on the cheap and just ended up with a worse product.
