What should you do when a girl offers social media over phone number?

So frequently when I ask a girl for her phone number she will offer her Instagram instead? I usually decline saying that I don't use Instagram or ask her why I would want it. Is this the best approach?

While I'm sure you could change up your replies to something a bit more pithy, I don't see how you could engage this any other way than how you are now. Most of the women you'll approach will reject you at first contact. That's just the reality of the mating game. Unless you're a pimp, or working photographer recruiting models, there's nothing for you, or any other guy, to be gained in accepting a females social media profile address.

You always ask for the phone number if you're not interested enough to ask them out right there. If they're unwilling to share their phone number, then you can part ways reasonably confident in knowing that she's not as interested in you as you are in her.

Honestly, it reads to me like you've got a good gut instinct on these things serving you well, don't start second guessing yourself now.
