So my Miyoo Mini had some dead pixels on the screen. Luckily I did order from Amazon, free return and the replacement is coming in tomorrow. See this is the benefit of Amazon for getting the Retroid Pocket 2+, if I got one from China I'd pay $130 with shipping and if it's jank or broke in some way then I got a long wait for either replacement parts or a new one to come. With Amazon it's 2-day shipping and 30 day return for any reason whatsoever. The upcharge on the RP2+ is it is $150 instead of $130 if you buy it on Amazon, but that quicker shipping and the replacement/refund guarantee give me plenty of comfort. I would've lost over $600 on a low quality 4k tv that couldn't upscale properly (top reviews probably a lie, it was a hisense) if I wasn't able to use that return policy.

@redpillschool I once communicated with this superstar programmer Richard Harris about his Babel JS competitor called Bubel. He was very responsive and cool. It's kind of amazing how many of the top people that I've interacted with online. For example I've chatted with a previous top director of GNU, major Linux distributions, my old highschool bro is at the very top of a major non-profit technology organization of which whose technology your probably using. The Internet is great in that if you have an interest and something smart to say then you can be hanging out with the big boys (even while being a loser in your underwear (and once you own your own house then the mom's basement jokes no longer work)).
Anyways, so this guy is kick ass, and having dealt with him, his genius and his kindness it was obvious to me that Svelte would rise very fast.

@slutmagazine I can enjoy each Civilization game well after each expansion pack has come out and been fixed up nicely (because fuck that Day 1 shit on a game that complex) because I'm not deluded into thinking that it's somehow a perfect or even decent proxy for real life. There are certain strategic lessons to be learned from games like this and Sim City though. Such as that California looks and feels like when you've stopped caring about your map and so the last thing to do before quiting the game is to pause it, enter the cheat codes, and just go nuts pasting out the most uninspired big block zoning of everything along with the stroads to connect it all together. At that moment my gentle love becomes contempt as I continue playing a game that I no longer enjoy soley for the purpose of doing the next thing before I shit can it. In this situation Sim City is the perfect hyper-real proxy for real California life that takes all of the boring shit like City Hall meetings and turns it into fleeting amusement as I god power my way to destroying everything by drowning out the good parts with what everyone else gets.

@slutmagazine Yeah, so AI will be judged against the best of humans, and they'll be ignoring all of the dumb shit humans who were programmed like simple warehouse level robots on all of the critical issues. I've got retarded friends who keep making the same mistakes, and sometimes I've been there. But we'll expect AI to be on point and a failure if it keeps making the same mistake fifty times even while understanding that it's a mistake. A lot of humans are very fucked up, and it's the gold standard that we insist is awesome due to the ideology of democracy. I think that before not too long we'll have specialized AI that among best of them (since they could diverge and become dysfunctional due to their ability to learn) are better than most humans. I still think though that it will be a long fucking time before there are AI that can be said to be generally better than the upper end of human intelligence. Better than the guy on crack though? Better than that annoying family member? No problem.

@TiberiusBravo87 I don't use Apple either. That isn't the point. People want to know that they're learning just another framework. I've made the point many times that Svelte is special, and is a full generation / revolution ahead of anything else. For example, Vue was mostly just a slightly more efficient and more ergonomic React. That was enough for me, but slow fags like @redpillschool want something with long-term legs. I believe that is Svelte now. Even if something better comes along later, it will only be a marginal improvement over the already vastly superior improvements. It will have a lot of momentum and so you can ride the Svelte train for at least ten years, and even more if you don't give a fuck anymore.

@destraht I don't do Apple, so anything involving Apple music and iPod's and whatever do not register.

However, I always felt that something was very wrong with my society, and so by keeping it virtual I'd have some better way to escape it all, even if I didn't have any idea how to do it.
You're on the better side of things. It's much more awesome to live a life that you made your own instead of buying into the bullshit that was created by someone else, or a group of someone else, or the brain dead masses. Also virtual will never be a replacement for the real thing.

@destraht We don't even know how to prove that animals are sentient, how are we going to do this with AI? You can't tell the difference between simulating a person on Reddit and the typical soulless person using Reddit.

@destraht How do you take a game like Civilization seriously now that you know what really goes on in global politics?

@redpillschool @TiberiusBravo87 @AFTSOV Svelte has been greenlit. It's now powering the upcoming Apple music beta site. Svelte is in most ways vastly superior to Vue and React. Of course I told you guys over a year ago that it was the upcoming best thing ever. It's not going away. I'm hoping and planning to never need to work in anything less good than this again.
