I do know As a general rule, you can count in ballistics slowing down faster than expected, which would explain a .30-06 getting stopped like that. I've personally seen a melon stop a .308 at 50 feet. But the bullet can never speed up once it left the barrel, which is what makes the dear thing absurd.
