As far as I'm aware, Arab countries have been engaged in desert reclamation for a good few decades. Combine that with the fact that Earth is well into the current cooling phase, the explosion of vegetation across the Arabian peninsula doesn't immediately surprise me. The Saudi's even have a cloud seeding operation and you should read up the history. Until fairly recently, the peninsula at one time had dense rain forests, so this could be a natural progression. This is a seriously determined effort on their part.

However, if you've read any reports of lakes growing in the Sahara, I'll be forced to defer to you on these concerns being a sign of the end times.
