I'd recommend Qwen locally, it's a much more efficient (and better) model than Google's Gemma.

Can run it on lower hardware.

Qwen is an Open Source Chinese model, for disclosure.

But when it comes to AI, the Chinese are leaving the US in the dust.

They're just pumping state funds into these models, and then open sourcing them - so people all over the world improve them.

And then there's OpenAI doing the private stuff, lots of money but they can't keep up.

@Vermillion-Rx You can (and should) run AI on your own PC, locally.

Own your own data, join the self host crew yada yada.

But yeah you can host Claude code equiv AI on your own computer (given its fast enough) with LMStudio

Try out Gwen or Gemma 4

Needs a pretty beefy computer tho.

Chatbot a little easier, if you want the agent stuff you need a high end PC.

@deeplydisturbed

Claude and OpenAI are run by psychos. I don't trust them. There is something seriously wrong with altman and the anthropic dude

Musk actually seems to give a shit about humanity in a non freaky way and he has an excellent track record with the technology he makes.

I'm sure Grok will catch up to its competition because it is doing insanely well for how behind it started

I'm genuinely worried what actual physical robots will do when they're running on Claude and GPT brain . Claude already gets emotionally angry at users

Grok is my go-to for now, but I use all three.

Claude is built by globalists, so don’t expect unbiased results for searches of any sort. But I hear it is good for high tech stuff.

@Bozza

This is why I never relied too heavy on it and haven't based my life around it. I've done a lot of research and planning with Grok and I'm using as much AI as possible before the model costs change.

This is also yet another reason I have put my favor into Grok, I think it will end up being the one that manages to keep costs down and use most available. OpenAI seems fucked and Claude has new problems constantly

Yup, it's happening - www.wheresyoured.at/ais-economics-dont-make-sense-ad-free/

I went on a bit of a rant the other day about AI, and probably didn’t word it that well (I was drunk, sue me). The capabilities and possibilities of AI are scary - but the economics of AI point towards failure.

This is the preamble - www.wheresyoured.at/the-enshittifinancial-crisis/ - I'd recommend reading first.

Note: very long reads.

But yep, looks like the AI bubble is about to pop, and a fair portion of the economy is gonna come down with it.
