@Victor

Yeah, that's bullshit. My Mom is about 5'5", my Dad 6'ish. They had 5 sons and I'm the only one of 'em doesn't top 6'. Most of my brothers are taller than our Dad.

My sister is the outlier, being 5'2" on her best day.

Granted, genetics does play a role. We're largely strong German and Scandinavian stock here, so everyone tends to be taller than the averages, including the women.

Here's the important bit for you, @oowiw: despite being a 5'8" manlet living in the Land of Goddamned Giants, since I got in shape, developed the confidence that naturally results from doing so and learned to get out of my own stupid way I do reasonably well with women when I actually apply myself. I've even dated a couple taller than me.

Currently feeling things out with a girl who's maybe an inch shorter than I am. If she puts on any kind of modest heels that reverses. She still makes moon eyes at me even when she's technically taller because who I am and how I behave doesn't change with her shoes.

Not being tall absolutely creates a headwind with women (and professionally), you ain't wrong about that. As @lurkerhasarisen can arrest, however, it's only insurmountable if you let it be.

We only call each other fags when it's merited. Or when it's funny.

In your case, it just so happens to be both, faggot.

Generally speaking, any time someone says something to the effect of "humans have never been/done X like they do today," you can be pretty well certain the individual saying it is completely and utterly full of shit.

Sure, we build different sets and props. Cast fresh actors. Dye the curtains and upholstery a different color. Maybe even change up the emphasis on the recitation of a given line.

Window dressing, nothing more. The fundamentals of who we are and how we behave may as well be set in stone as far as history is concerned.

Today it's smartphones. 100 years ago it was opium and alcohol. I don't know what the vice du jour was 1,000 years ago but I'm certain, if one were to look into the historical records of the time, one would find any number of ways in which people, particularly young people, chased the metaphorical dragon.

All this has happened before and will happen again. Anyone who says differently is selling something. And/or speaking from a position of profound ignorance.

@Goingthedistance

Did he tell you this?

I remember several years ago when I was still fairly new to RP ideas, I read something to the effect of "women can come up with any number of reasons, both legitimate and bullshit, to reject you. Don't save her the effort by inventing one for her."

I'd never thought of that before. Seeing it clearly expressed like that helped me out going forward.

Dudes having approach anxiety doesn't necessarily mean they're weak. Far more often it simply means they're inexperienced. We all have to learn to walk before we can run.

It's definitely not just me getting older.

Yes it is.

Like this is new

No it isn't.

and it's getting worse with every generation.

People have been saying this for as long as we've had language with which to express the sentiment. One of Plato's writing bemoans the "fallen" state of modern youths something like 2500 years ago.

You're what, late 20s? Give it another 10 or 15 years and you'll start hearing the kids about whom you're complaining now complaining about the kids of the next generation.

All this has happened before and will happen again.

@Theolympicnomad is there more to the original video? Or is it just those words on the screen as they emote at the camera?

Either way, this is a good fit for the "single woman tears" or "inspin tears" weekend flairs at the WAATGM forum.

Just please post the full video after scrubbing it of identifying info via musicallydown.com

Let me know if you need help, or if you'd rather not do it so I can

Thanks!

I'm trying to find where I said you should be an unrepentant asshole to everyone you meet. Maybe you could quote it for me.

My point, which seems to have gone sailing over your head at cruising altitude, was while confidence and charm are undeniably positive qualities (in fact, I'd agree they're probably the most important for finding success with women), they still have to be built on the foundation of putting in the work. I've known fat guys who slay but they were very much the exceptions who prove the rule. Moreover, getting in shape and putting one's life in order is perhaps the most natural way to gain that confidence in the first place.

@Goingthedistance @Victor

Simply, just be genuine and kind, and also polite.

it's only about your personality and your way of talking aka the rizz.

Vcards for both of you. You ain't wrong about the value of charm and confidence but claiming that's all there is to it is hardly different than women telling you to "just be yourself."
