Firstly it proves women will spend on a man they really want to snag.
Secondly it proves they can't be honest about it. Thousands of guys pay out like this for girls they hope to snag but they do it openly. They tell the girl and the girl gets her ego inflated by it and this in turn gives the guy a tiny weeny bit more chance with her. This girl lied that the tickets were free. This actually makes it not a very good offer "I have these free tickets I have to use up, will you help me use them?" is nothing like as gratifying as "I want to take you to. x (which I know you like) and I have paid for everything" The first offer makes me think I am doing her a favour, the second makes me feel like a stud stallion she is willing to pay for.
Why did she lie? Was it for the same reason women give male escorts the money to pay for the meal when they get taken out? -she doesn't want to see herself as paying for a man's time, it spoils the fantasy. or was it because men are too principled to accept such a desperate offer. If he took it he would feel he had to be her boyfriend and he didn't really fancy her. Did she know this deep down inside? I suspect it was this reason.
