@Typo-MAGAshiv Lol and you thought you were done with all of it.
I've only read summaries of Hobbes but one day I'll get around to reading what he actually wrote.
Meanwhile, it's not what you read, it's what you get out of it. Your eyes can gloss over the words but it doesn't mean you get the real meaning out of it. Especially if you can't consider the fact that something can be both a republic and a democracy at the same time, or that separate branches doesn't mean it can't be a democracy.

It's fine not everyone is meant for high level conversations.
Realizing it? That's step one.
Step two: read something besides Plato.
The way you've been fawning over monarchies, Hobbes might be more up your alley than you think.

It's about money, not about saving the planet.
It always was with the Democrats. Politics in general works this way in democracies because you need that sweet sweet ad money to win, and that's where the big money owns you.

I didn't think it would actually be possible in my lifetime.
That's what you're going to say when the second civil war happens, Hispanics become the majority, the petrodollar is replaced, social credit score is implemented, the Supreme Court is packed, and liberal democratic Asian countries become vassals to their communist counterparts.

@MentORPHEUS From memory, there's a .52% correlation on the upside and a .28% correlation on the downside between oil price movements and retail gas prices. The St. Louis Fed has studied it extensively. Those might not be the exact figures but they are roughly correct, and the important point is that there is statistically significant movement either way in the short term. Over time, historically, a $10 change in oil prices leads to a 25 cents per gallon change in retail gas prices. Whether Keystone products are for domestic consumption is mostly irrelevant. I don't know if historical data is all that useful now, though, because we've never had an administration overtly hostile to fossil fuels and that wants retail gas prices to be higher (lots of money in so-called green energy). If this administration were thrown out of office and its appointees replaced with those not deliberately trying to increase retail gas prices, you'd see a big drop, more than the numbers suggested by the St. Louis Fed research. And green energy is more of an environmental clusterfuck than anything in fossil fuels now. It's about money, not about saving the planet.

@Typo-MAGAshiv It was a foregone conclusion once it had been successfully done to Directv cards. In hindsight, you could say that I planned my life accordingly.
