I knew a woman once who insisted I have my own place with no roommates. Didn't make any sense to me until I found out she lived with her boyfriend, so we obviously couldn't go to her place, and she didn't want to risk news of her stepping out for some strange getting 'round from roommates at mine talking. Not that my roommates would have had any idea who the happy fuck she was, let alone wanted to snitch on her; they just would have high-fived me for getting laid and moved on with their lives. Regardless, given I hadn't known she had a boyfriend before then, the point was moot; I ain't gonna' be That Guy.
But I digress. I agree with @Durek_The_Bald; there's more going on to make this dude undateable than simply not having his own place. I've no doubt that can be a hurdle to clear for smashing entitled cunts but, as others have said, if a woman really wants to fuck you she'll find a way to make it happen, roommates be damned.
That said, I think there's a lot of good to be mined from this. I'm in essentially the same position - technically worse, on account of I live in my parents' house. It's just me there now; I'm watching the place for 'em while they're serving a mission across the country, but I've lived there 5 years, two of 'em with my folks at home. I'm certain there are women who wouldn't date me because of this but, if they're that picky, there's plenty else about me they could use as a reason, so I'm not particularly bothered about it.
In the meantime I'm using all the money I would have been throwing away on rent to pay down the few debts I have. I just paid off my motorcycle, I'll have my credit card paid off in a few months and the remainder of my student loans wiped out within a year. When I hit 40 in '25 I should have a healthy savings built up and no outside claim upon it.
Compare that to burning up literally tens of thousands of dollars ever year for a chance at knocking down half a dozen or so random bar skanks and I can't imagine why any man ain't letting his testosterone do all his thinking for him would choose the latter.

The only way forward is to stop caring what women think, and stop living your life in service of women. Do what you want. After an entire life living in service to women (your entire childhood and adolesence, and early 20s) its actually quite hard for men to figure out what it is that actually gives them joy.
That's why I also think its worth spending time thinking on it - usually in a nature setting. What is it that gives me joy? what is my mission? Am I on auto pilot? Am I working hard to get money, so that i can buy a big house and a porsche? Is my desire for a big house and a porsche so that I can get the approval of women? of people that I don't even know or like? why am I living like this?

Read More@polishknight I've always driven junk cars and a lot of my buddies would have been the same. I guess its partly because in the UK at least, flashy cars are deemed a bit 'working class' - new mercs and beemers are very council flat. (public housing).
One of my buddies is seriously rich - no idea how rich, but to give you an impression, my wife got lost in his house once. The land that comes with his house has a small village on it, and he rents those out, 'to pay for the roof on the main house'. One of the barns is big enough for us to play badminton in. He drives a 14 year old toyota.

I dunno', man. Of all the material possessions I have ever owned in my life, my favorite was my Porsche. It was a sad day when it was towed away the last time. I was long-since married when I got it, so I didn't buy it to pick up chicks (my wife talked me into it, in fact... I was loath to spend that much money on something so impractical).
