Some of the most thoroughly fucked up people I've known came from the most solid and secure familial backgrounds with parents who seemed to have done everything right.
Not a ton of them, to be sure; they're very much the exceptions who prove the rule. However, they're also object lessons in individual agency. Most of them had siblings raised the same way by the same parents who turned out just fine.
It's tempting to think there was something their parents could have done differently to avoid such an outcome but, ultimately, some people simply insist on doing things the hard way and fucking up every which way they possibly can.

Been on a dance event lately.
I can feel I got a connection with a cute girl. Start to think about logistics and closing it at the end of the song.
Then 30seconds before another song finished I do this move where insides of the arms are getting exposed for a split of a second. She never did that move so the underarms are exposed for few a seconds instead. I see a tatoo, it draws my attention to this part of the body. Next thing I see is a sort of a ladder like cuts on the whole length of the forearm. Possibly the same on the other side.
Should I resume escalation ladder next time?
There were things where I was kept in the dark, that might have changed the course of her life, as well as her Brothers.
