Spoken with a few Iraqis who lived through the removal of Saddam, as long as you weren't his opposition, life was fairly good. So it'd seem you're not alone.
@Typo-MAGAshiv Yeah, obviously his trial comes off as even weirder than in the Republic. Remember how Saddam Hussein went full Frank Reynolds at his own trial?

@Antelope she reminds me of Saddam's media guy during the invasion.
"There are no Americans in Baghdad! Soon we will crush them!" as American Soldiers wave at the camera from behind him.
@destraht didn't realize it was a link. Just looked like bold type.
Yeah, I was in Iraq 3 times. Some of the destruction of water treatment facilities, etc. really was due to insurgents, but most of it was during the initial invasion in 2003, when we were fighting the Iraqi Army under Saddam.
I didn't see any deliberate destruction of any infrastructure, and if anything, we went to great lengths to avoid collateral damage to buildings, infrastructure, etc.
The stuff about the BAATS system, not giving water unless they let us scan, etc. all checks out, though.
I never participated in any gay-ass "zombie drills" or even heard of such nonsense.
But after “weapons of mass destruction” was proved to be a scam
It wasn't a scam.
Saddam had months to get rid of them, and many of them flowed into Jordan and Syria.
And even if he had none at all (like many people think), his kicking out the UN Inspectors was an act of war under the terms of the treaty signed to end the first Persian Gulf War.
I don’t have a problem with Islam as a religion
You should.
I DO have a problem with globalists telling me I should hate and fear Islam
You know I'm no globalist, and I'm telling you that once you understand Islam, you will hate and/or fear its spread.
I'll recommend this book to you, and again to anyone following along:
The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades
The justification was Saddam kicking out the inspectors.
Scott Ritter was a head inspector who went in front of the Iraqi Legislators to convince them to allow the inspectors back in so that the US would not invade. The Iraqis agreed based upon his argument and proposal, but then the US revealed that it didn't care about that, and that it was just the latest excuse. Ritter felt that the system was betraying everyone and so he went in front of Congress to set the record straight. He was charged with treason, which was later dropped. He was then dragged through the mud for years over Internet sex crimes, which caused him to have a divorce. The first one was dropped and sealed, and then perhaps they got him on one years later.
That is what a war hero looks like. It looks like that, not doing whatever the system says to then collect your honor at the end while being the first protected class with industry backing. The system said hands off the soldiers, and this was the beginning of the LGBTQ model. Don't mess with the trannies and soldiers because they both are entitled our respect.
Read MoreThere were no WMDs.
There were. Saddam used mustard gas on the Kurds, and during the long period of attempts at a peaceful resolution, several truck convoys transported shit tons of them to Syria and Jordan.
Stop with the Taqiyyah.
who went in front of the Iraqi Legislators
Dog and pony show. Do you think for one nanosecond that they had any sway over Saddam?
[the rest]
Inane and irrelevant blather, as always.
*yawn*
Addendum, @lurkerhasarisen:
Like how the other option you presented wasn't a real option at all, notice how all the people screeching about Iraq have failed to present an alternative?
I mean, was the world supposed to just sit back and allow Saddam to do whatever he wanted and hope that he restricted his brutality to his own people (inasmuch as Kurds would be considered his own people) and his immediate neighbors?
After all, that route had been tried elsewhere before, and it didn't go too well.
