I used to do martial arts tournaments in the brown belt division (I got my black belt later, but never competed at that level).
I did both kata (forms) and kumite (sparring). There were no weight classes because it’s about scoring points with good techniques rather than doing maximum damage, anlth it’s definitely possible to get your bell rung. Despite the fact that you weren’t going for damage, and the most effective techniques were forbidden in a tournament setting, there were separate men’s and women’s divisions even though women wear the same belts as the men.

I don’t know if you watched the trailer I linked, but apparently the way for any woman to defeat any man is to fight dirty… because it would never occur to a man that someone trying to kill him might try to kick him in the balls, or to violate the Marquess of Queensbury rules himself.

It’s bad enough when waifs with superpowers toss large trained men around like angry toddlers throwing teddy bears.
I can easily deal with Superwoman or She-Hulk (not the abomination of a recent TV show version) or Rogue from the X-Men throwing large men around. I mean, in-universe, you also have (respectively) aliens flying and with x-ray vision, gamma radiation not killing you, and many other ridiculously silly mutant powers. If one can willingly suspend disbelief for all that, why not?

Yes.
I was in a martial arts club as a college student. I was a lower belt in that particular style, but upper belt in a different one.
On one of the sparring nights, I went against one of the female black belts. She was large (not fat) for a woman: almost as tall as me, and probably 140-150lbs (and again, not fat).
She got increasingly upset and frustrated as the sparring session went on, because she couldn't even hit me. I rarely even tried to strike, but when I did, it was a light tap to her forehead. She never dodged or blocked a single one.
