@RomeoAndJulian

Passing that on as an anecdote only seems strange.

I can't remember the source, but it was a top tier scientist that proposed such a research (maybe R. Trivers or R. Dunbar), expressing his strong feeling that this is the case. I don't know if anyone followed through with the actual research.

@RomeoAndJulian

You need a very big knife to carve out a piece from war. Unless you are a billionaire, you have nothing to gain from supporting your elite, and very much to lose, even if your country "wins".

For example, it's suggested by serious scientists (I don't know if the study has been made) that the mass murders of the 70s in the US where committed by the children of the soldiers who returned traumatized from WWII. And I'm not even touching the issue of the homeless Vietnam veterans...

Here's some Friday Night Fun.

Background: In the 70s, a system called Sensurround was introduced in theaters, that produced heavy bass rumbling to give added tactile sensation and supposedly deeper immersion in the movie experience. It was used in the films Earthquake and Rollercoaster. I saw the latter as a kid, and to be honest the Sensurround experience really wasn't all that.

Kentucky Fried Movie spoofed the concept in this skit called Feel-Around. A rather stereotypical AFC type of dude goes to a theater to watch a film shown in Feel-Around. Funny and worth the 5 minutes.

@Durek_The_Bald

I'll try to outline his game.

What goes on is that he's into a really greedy strategy. He does the defect move of the prisoner dillema, all across the board. Right now, there is no one in the world that trusts him.

On the front page, he talks. Peace in Ukraine, yadda yadda. On the actual field, he attacks, by proxy (hit on the Russian tactical bombers). He repeated this exact move with the "talks" about the Iranian neuclear program, while carrying out the hit, again by proxy.

His supporters fantasize that it's some grand strategy or something. It's not. It's quite simple single-sided deceit and aggression. The fact that it hasn't progressed yet to its logical conclusion, i.e. the nuclear war, is irrelevant.

It's bully tactics, and consequences be damned - fuck the poor who will pay, and fuck the middle class, who thought he would consider them at all.

The war continues, and if there's anyone left with the impression that "Trump is more pro-world peace than the Democrats", flip fast.

The Evolutionary Psychology Behind Politics: How Conservatism and Liberalism Evolved Within Humans

Why do people adopt different political ideologies? How can seemingly equal intellects, presented with the same facts and circumstances disagree so vehemently over how society should be structured? What psychological undercurrents guide people to adopt Conservative or Liberal political beliefs, and where did they come from?

The answer lies in a well known concept in biology, termed r/K Selection Theory. r/K Theory examines how all populations tend to adopt one of two psychologies as a means of adapting their behavior to the presence or absence of environmental resources. The two strategies, termed r and K, each correlate perfectly with the psychologies underlying Liberalism and Conservatism.

One strategy, named the r-strategy, imbues those who are programmed with it to be averse to all peer on peer competition, embrace promiscuity, embrace single parenting, and support early onset sexual activity in youth. Obviously, this mirrors the Liberal philosophy’s aversion to individual Darwinian competitions such as capitalism and self defense with firearms, as well as group competitions such as war. Likewise, Liberalism is tolerant of promiscuity, tolerant of single parenting, and more prone to support early sex education for children and the sexualization of cultural influences. Designed to exploit a plethora of resources, one will often find this r-type strategy embodied within prey species, where predation has lowered the population’s numbers, and thereby increased the resources available to it’s individuals.

The other strategy, termed the K-strategy, imbues those who pursue it with a fierce competitiveness, as well as tendencies towards abstinence until monogamy, two-parent parenting, and delaying sexual activity until later in life. Obviously, this mirrors Conservatism’s acceptance of all sorts of competitive social schemes, from free market capitalism, to war, to individuals owning and carrying private weapons for self defense. Conservatives also tend to favor abstinence until monogamy, two parent parenting with an emphasis upon “family values,” and children being shielded from any sexualized stimuli until later in life. This strategy is found most commonly in species which lack predation, and whose population’s have grown to the point individuals must compete with each other for the limited environmental resources that they are rapidly running out of.

Meticulously substantiated with the latest research in fields from neurobiology to human behavioral ecology, this work offers an unprecedented view into not just what governs our political battles, but why these battles have arisen within our species in the first place. From showing how these two strategies adapt in other more complex species in nature, to examining what genetic and neurostructural mechanisms may produce these divergences between individuals, to showing what this theory indicates our future may hold, this work is the most thorough analysis to date of just why we have two political ideologies, why they will never agree, and why we will tend to become even more partisan in the future.

You can find mention of this book on both Youtube, Scribd, and other websites.

Question for intermediate TRPers regarding Oneitis and resentment

Context: Have been entertaining 2 different one-sided LTRs for the past 3 years with various FWBs + plates that come and go. Have told both I never plan to legally marry. They accept this on the surface but considering one is 27 and the other is 34(and they’re women), they likely delude themselves

Some poor past choices led me to have to rebuild my life from the ground up. I’d like to think we’ve all been there at one point or another. During this time, 2 plates behaved well enough to earn FWB, and then trial-LTR status. Bitch Management style works wonders if done correctly. While one of these has been smooth sailing, the other I chose to cohabitate with (Big Mistake 1) out of convenience, our places rent being paid by her (Big Mistake #2). Even though the investment I have in the first girl is stronger, and her RMV/genuine desire in me is higher, and the 2nd girl demonstrating she’s not really LTR material several times, it’s the 2nd girl I find myself slipping into oneitis for and resenting for not being like the 1st. I know I’m better than her, I still game/see other girls, and I know my SMV is on the rise while hers plateaued and is on the decline. So why does the latter relationship spark more desire/attraction in me than other girls I am seeing? Why have I begun to let it weaken my frame?

Attempt to answer own question: The 2nd LTR sparks resentment for a few reasons. First is the 2 mistakes mentioned above. We all know why cohabitation is mostly a bad idea, and her paying the rent gives her soft power over me. Even though she’s made no direct/indirect mention of it so far, its presence is felt. Attraction was high during the first couple years of non-exclusive dating but gradually faded, as it does with cohabitation. There were a few examples of her being more attracted to other people/doing things she hasn’t done with me during this stage too, which I accepted and made a mental note of but forgot about as time went on. Last is her crossing several soft boundaries, which she immediately apologized/made amends for but the instances mostly followed the same pattern and left a bitter taste in my mouth. She still adds value to my life, but has proven this girl is nothing to be taken seriously. It’s this part that’s proved challenging and is what I’d like more perspective on. The situation is, at the end of the day, my fault and responsibility. I should probably continue to rebuild my life, and doing my best to detach from her, move out when the lease is up in a few months, and see other women.

Consider investing into a reliable ready reference you can pick up and study to better prepare yourself for engaging the opposite sex. I'd suggest that you get yourself a copy of Doc Love's "The System: The Dating Dictionary". Doc Love, who until his passing was also known as Tom Hodges, wrote a weekly advice column that's archive is mirrored on several mens focused sites and a podcast. His media is a bit pricey, but it's a solid foundation a guy can branch out from in RP aware circles. I'd suggest you review his advice column to decide if his view on dating and relationships is aligned with what you aspire for yourself. To save yourself a search, give this scribed link a gander to find out if his book is something you'd like to add to your library. It should also be available on libgen.
