There seems to be just a sliver of people that understand that we are heading headlong into WWIII, and that it will utterly destroy their lives.
It will be global, it will be neuclear, and there will be nowhere to hide from the radioactive clouds. Cancer is not fun.
I'd like to take this opportunity to underline how the dominance of femininity in society has led to this undead feeling of "at last something will change".
I don't have any hope that the psychopaths in charge in about all nations will change course. They are, by definition, the apex undead, the thrill seekers. The situation has gone so animalistic that it's not even about domination or stuff like that. This is a death cult. This is a recreation of the unworded feelings when mommy divorced dad, she was fucking random, menacing strangers, and you were all alone, in danger of having your head bashed with a thick club or pushed off the cliff at any moment, and utterly petrified. Ha, now the whole world will see how that feels like.

Passing that on as an anecdote only seems strange.
I can't remember the source, but it was a top tier scientist that proposed such a research (maybe R. Trivers or R. Dunbar), expressing his strong feeling that this is the case. I don't know if anyone followed through with the actual research.
You need a very big knife to carve out a piece from war. Unless you are a billionaire, you have nothing to gain from supporting your elite, and very much to lose, even if your country "wins".
For example, it's suggested by serious scientists (I don't know if the study has been made) that the mass murders of the 70s in the US where committed by the children of the soldiers who returned traumatized from WWII. And I'm not even touching the issue of the homeless Vietnam veterans...

Here's some Friday Night Fun.
Background: In the 70s, a system called Sensurround was introduced in theaters, that produced heavy bass rumbling to give added tactile sensation and supposedly deeper immersion in the movie experience. It was used in the films Earthquake and Rollercoaster. I saw the latter as a kid, and to be honest the Sensurround experience really wasn't all that.
Kentucky Fried Movie spoofed the concept in this skit called Feel-Around. A rather stereotypical AFC type of dude goes to a theater to watch a film shown in Feel-Around. Funny and worth the 5 minutes.
I'll try to outline his game.
What goes on is that he's into a really greedy strategy. He does the defect move of the prisoner dillema, all across the board. Right now, there is no one in the world that trusts him.
On the front page, he talks. Peace in Ukraine, yadda yadda. On the actual field, he attacks, by proxy (hit on the Russian tactical bombers). He repeated this exact move with the "talks" about the Iranian neuclear program, while carrying out the hit, again by proxy.
His supporters fantasize that it's some grand strategy or something. It's not. It's quite simple single-sided deceit and aggression. The fact that it hasn't progressed yet to its logical conclusion, i.e. the nuclear war, is irrelevant.
It's bully tactics, and consequences be damned - fuck the poor who will pay, and fuck the middle class, who thought he would consider them at all.
