In 2016, I thought Trump was a blowhard who was only in the race to weaken the Republicans in the primary so that his old friend Hillary would have an easier victory. When he ended up getting the nomination, I was pissed off, but I had learned from 2008 and wasn't going to sit this one out. Hillary probably would have been even worse than Obama. I wasn't voting for Trump so much as I was voting against Hillary.
When he ended up winning, I decided to keep an open mind and give Trump a chance (something "liberals" such as you and MSNBCorpheus er @mentorpheus should try).
He ended up being the best President in my lifetime, possibly ever.
I gladly voted for him again in 2020 and 2024, and I do not regret it one bit. No one I know IRL regrets it either. More on our lack of regret in a moment.
