Not every male thing has a female equivalent and vice-versa. Eg men don't have an equivalent of women's monthly cycle. We aren't the same, and not everything that one sex has necessarily has a corresponding equivalent in the opposite sex.
@woodsmoke Flammable. An oddity, chiefly useful in saving lives. The common word meaning "combustible" is inflammable. But some people are thrown off by the in- and think inflammable means "not combustible." For this reason, trucks carrying gasoline or explosives are now marked FLAMMABLE. Unless you are operating such a truck and hence are concerned with the safety of children and illiterates, use inflammable. E.B. White, The Elements of Style
@woodsmoke I'm not wrong. Pick up one of Strunk and White's style guides. Prior versions explained it (don't know if current ones do or not). If you read books that aren't modern, you'll run across uninflammable.
This is my first exposure to the term "uninflammable."
My phone's dictionary is marking the word as misspelled.
I've always known flammable to mean combustible and inflammable to mean non-combustible.
I ain't saying you're wrong, mind, but I think it's safe to say this is a case of the horses having escaped the barn so long ago it's better to simply accept this as an reversible evolution of the language.

@polishknight flammable is not a word. Illiterate people mistook inflammable as meaning "won't burn," so flammable was invented. The correct words are inflammable and uninflammable.
