@Vermillion-Rx She was pretty funny to listen to. Back in those days, open sex talk was still considered pushing the envelope. The most risque "reality" show on TV was Phil Donahue; this was before Jerry Springer got a full head of steam.
One hilarious moment I remember, some prank caller asked "about this new venereal disease that's out... called Crotch Crickets." She took it seriously at first, saying, "I don' know about any Crrrrroh-tch Crrrreekettes..." then caught on that it was a joke.
@Vermillion-Rx Way back in the 80s, a very popular radio program was Dr. Ruth Westheimer, a diminutive grandmotherly old Jewish woman, who had a syndicated sex and relationship call-in show.
Almost every show, she'd drop the line in her strong Eastern European Jewish sounding accent, "When you 'ave ay-noll sex, you mahst use playnty of LOO-bree-cant!"

@woodsmoke fuck yes. We've been far too kind to third world shitholes for our own good. Had the roles been reversed, they'd have ground us into the dirt (as we're starting to see in some areas).
By every reasonable metric I can find it seems pretty clear Zimbabwe and South Africa were genuinely better off under British colonial rule.
Don't forget India, Pakistan, etc.
