@Vermillion-Rx I'm as white as white comes, which is relevant to what follows.
The user in question apparently lives in the general region, thus naturally would by default feel greater kinship to and empathy for the people of the nations there. For the past few years, "white people" namely US and to a lesser extent UK associated, have ramped up colonialist abuses of powerless peoples in that region, coming to a head with the US armed and backed, unilateral surprise attack upon Iran. The pretext for this was Iran's supposed imminent development of nuclear weapons. Western mainstream news and official policy positions, have completely and in grave injustice, have ignored that Iran was open and cooperative about inspections, even after Trump unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA. Iran was still complying with that in good faith, only to get royally fucked over and backstabbed, by Mossad compromising the IAEA and using that supposedly nonpartisan agency to harvest targeting information to assassinate Iranian scientists in their homes, along with dozens to hundreds of their innocent neighbors many of them children.
In the face of this fuckery and the righteous indignation of the user, I saw people here taunting him with the coping-strategies of supposed "Western superiority". A community founded on the philosophy of seeing through simulations and simulacra, weaponizing same against a longtime member of the same community. A community that treats censorship in the name of "Identity Politics" as antithetical to and polar opposite of our very self-image and a practice of our cultural enemies, invoking it as justification of censoring/banning said member.
It's been building for a long time, the "right wing" culture of low metacognitive Dunning-Kruger expression of self-righteousness. Donald Trump marks the apotheosis of this culture. Not feeling personally bought-in to this zeitgeist, from my perspective, I see a need for serious self-reflection on the level of unaware adoption of the values and irrational belief in, an empire in the process of self-destruction at the end of its era.
Bottom line: I can see how, from a global perspective, that "White people" racial-superiored way too close to the sun lately, and that by objective standards, "everyone else" is not wrong for calling "white people" out on this. We "white people" would be better served looking in the mirror and at our core values vs recent behavior, than lashing out in weak ego-defensive behaviors that do nothing in the long term to even hold, much less improve, our ACTUAL place in the population of planet Earth.
Read MoreI thought we were actually trashing Westside Barbell to be fair.
Also, notice how no one else received a similar warning?
No one else was violating content policy
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by other issues but I'm 99% sure what it is referring to and he was permitted to do it for 2 years + without any kind of admin response
That wasn't what the problem was. He wasn't even banned for discussions about it. He was banned for a slew of other violations, many of which no one saw because I had no choice but to remove them, and many of which no one would have wanted to see
Yes. There are limited situations to post it. It has to be pretty removed from any support and not used in a way that is to shock people
It's best to not post it or at least be understanding of why it's instantly removed if it wasn't one of the exceptions
This has to be one of the least self aware rebuttals to a warning about site content policy I've ever seen on here
In case anyone needed receipts for my decision on site banning a long time user.
I don't take any joy in it. It's not pleasant. But neither is 10 sitewide ignored content policy violations.
Everyone's feed should start being noticeably better (including new users landing on the site page for the first time) and less contentious.
