@redpillschool

No it's worse than that. The actual sauce for the sauced up wings. I had a soft spot for the sweet heat BBQ and it now has no heat, too sweat and a weird texture.....

@redpillschool Competition should keep prices low but the reality is that costs are rising and rising. The west is fucked by all the things we have been warning the liberals about for decades and the value that your money actually buys is falling fast.

Less people have a decent amount to spare on discretionary spending and the costs of employer burdening legislation along with rising food and energy costs push hard on the hospitality industry. Quite a lot of businesses are closing and those that profit most seem to be either going up or down market. The ordinary guy has less to offer, you go down market to keep him or you just sell fancy stuff to the few.

The reality is that the hospitality industry never had vale to offer. We just had enough money to spare that we valued the ease of it. Now that ease is not worth the cost any more for the average guy on the average weekend.

@redpillschool part of the Venture Capital enshittification process. The mega commissary operations like Sysco are part of their vertical monopoly that also took over all the retail end points of fast and sit down restaurant chains.

Cracker Barrel deftly deflected blame for their recent makeover fumble on an individual "Woke female CEO." But, reading countless comments from current and former front line employees, the slide started long before this, with Sysco slop and smaller portions pushed through by Corporate, after the original owner sold it for more money than God. The blame doesn't belong on the easy scapegoat of blue haired Leftists, but very right wing fucks in expensive suits.

@Kloi The minute a place starts charging for blue cheese dressing with my wings, I leave and never come back.

@redpillschool

We just had to change locations for our weekly contractors dinner because the prices went up when it sold a year and a half ago. We groaned. Service went down hill. Now they're cheaping out on buns, sauces for the wings, sides.

Probably won't be back as a group. Two to fifteen guys every Sunday for over two years.

@Kloi You know it's one thing for prices to go up. But when you also ruin the quality and quantity of the food AND increase the price, you're burning good will at a rate you'll never recover from.

We had a tradition out of high-school of hitting Friday fish fries that started in 2011. I think there was a housing market issue and an overall economic downturn in the states in 2014. At 20ish years old we all noticed portion sizes and quality of our meals deteriorate. Never to return.

I quit going out to eat regularly long before covid but I know that period made going out even worse as far as quality based on price is concerned.

Every time I go out for food or drinks I can't help but notice the value proposition is quickly vanishing. Everybody wants a bigger cut, and in doing so they're robbing the future of the industry.

Getting 5 mediocre mozz sticks that are clearly reheated premade Sysco slop for $25, paying $4 for a song on the jukebox, a $20 gin and tonic, a $30+ burger with 7 fries. Or live music so loud you can't hear people right next to you let alone yourself thinking.

It was always healthier to eat at home. But, they're slowly taking away the only other value they brought to the table.

Sometimes it seems like a race to see who can insult their customers the most and still get away with it.
