Funny how therapists seem to not do this
When I have problems I want solutions - not chatty chat.
But that’s me
I guess their business model depends on lots of hours in a chair

Therapists get paid to listen non-defensively and non-judgmentally. In other words, you pay someone to do what you would get free in wholesome loving relationships.
Wow… it seems that I’ve been doing this whole “listening to people’s problems” thing ALL WRONG. For some reason people have been coming to me with their problems my entire adult life. I credit my two-step counseling method:
Step 1: Stop being an idiot who does idiotic things.
Step 2: Do this instead…

So what do you guys think of therapy?
It has become increasingly clear over the past 1/2 century that therapy is spotty at best.
There seems to be a consensus that people who have good parents, strong social bonds, and are healthy and intelligent, have little need for therapy.
TL;DR - Therapists get paid to listen non-defensively and non-judgmentally. In other words, you pay someone to do what you would get free in wholesome loving relationships.
