@Bozza South Africa is awesome, the weather is awesome. Lots of fruits, veggies, and livestock. Corruption, crime, here there, and remnants of a collapsed apartheid goverment. Alien conspiracies in the Drakensberg Mountains, South Africa also holds the largest concentration of ancient human ancestral remains in the world. It also possess some of the best wine and beer in my opinion, there's lots of spots to go for vacation. There's lots of buried gold yet to be discovered all around the Kruger. South Africa is pretty cool.
In order of importance:
I have a new motorcycle!
She is so goddamn pretty. I can't wait to take her for a proper spin.
Seriously, though: I'd maneuvered the bike into the pictured position and went to rest it on the kickstand. Only I'm an idiot and the kickstand wasn't down, so down I went with the bike.
A brand new bike. One I haven't even ridden yet. It has 8 miles on it. And my dumb ass went and fell onto concrete underneath it, breaking the top of my left femur.
What's worse, one of the headlight mounts broke and there were some fluid spots underneath it. Sadly, I couldn't pick it back up because I couldn't stand, but the EMTs were very helpful on that count. The dealership is sending a trailer to pick it up tomorrow and see what the damage is.
And I'm once again naked underneath a hospital gown awaiting an operation tomorrow morning.
@woodsmoke Sheesh that is some bad luck! If you hadn't been excited about the bike, I bet you would have remembered about the kickstand. Its tough to suffer just because you were happy and let go. Men get few chances in life to be happy just for themselves and let go. You appear to be taking it remarkably well. I hope you heal fast.
Aye. I had it all planned out too. I'd park the bike under the carport there and surprise my folks when they got home. Then I'd ride it into town tomorrow morning and surprise my buddies. Then into work on Monday and surprise the guys there. Rounding out with riding it to visit a friend lives a couple hours away.
Instead I had to tell 'em all what I wrote above. "Best laid plans" indeed.
Fortunately I don't have to worry about paying for storage. I can just lock it up and throw it under a tarp for the winter under the carport there. Benefit of living in a big two story house was originally purchased to raise an equally big Mormon family.
...also, I have a broken femur.
Again.
Yes, it's the same one.
Different spot this time, though. I think that means I get another spot on my punch card.
@woodsmoke damn, man! That's some hard luck. Hopefully you get to enjoy the bike next spring when you're healed up. In the meantime, you probably want to plan for long-term secure storage that doesn't multiply your monthly payment fixed costs. Here in USA there are abundant competing self storage places with motorcycle sized units.
@SamuelAnders Cut him off...
but before you do that, question if you're actually scapegoating him for your short comings. Don't tell me the answer, I don't care, but it's something to consider.
despite the fact that I have already secured opportunities that can pay multiple six figures and single-handedly got into an Ivy League school to study computer science.
Sounds like you've got plenty of breathing space to go upwards.
