I'm all about actual safety, but the so-called "safety reps" on most jobsites are fucking retarded, and so are their rules. I have many stories I could share, but some of them could get me doxxed if anyone who was there or has heard me share the story IRL happened to read any.
I'll put it this way: anyone in any industry who says "100% this" or "zero-tolerance that" is a fucking moron.

@First-light haha, other side of the same coin is when they feel uncalled-for pity for us.
Example: a buddy and I were heading in one night to watch a concrete pour. Our only purpose was to make sure the concrete workers didn't mess up anything of ours that was going in-slab, and to fix such things when possible. Easy money, and we wereb getting paid double time.
However, it was a Saturday night in a mid-sized city's party district, so we got all these looks of pity from the partyers. One drunk dude told us, "it's not right that you're working on a Saturday night! [we had volunteered because $] I wish I could buy you two out!" We laughed, and my buddy said "no way you could afford that haha!"
We made more money in a 10 hour night than many people make in a 40 hour week!
