It's crazy how you can go from a relationship of 2 years plus to hos and the hos have more respect than the singular woman of two years.

There is some fault of my own for getting lazy or excepting behaviors that I shouldn't in a LTR.

My experience, to some fault of my own, is hos treat me better, than I require from LTRs.

@Kloi Hoes show that women can be very nice when they want to be. Its astonishing how women can be so nice when they think they are going to benefit, yet ignore a man from whom they benefit greatly daily.

Its all about what they are getting, not what they have. Somehow a LTR needs to still leave her wanting to work to get more not take for granted what she has.

@Vermillion-Rx one of my best friends from my university days is of Indian descent.

His parents are very successful, quite rich in Canada and the US.

They decided to retire to their ancestral homeland where they aren't just rich, but ultra-rich and can live like kings.

After seeing some of the tourist videos of India, especially from Bald & Bankrupt, I'd rather stay here and live like a normal person. What a shithole.

In addition to the difficulty of maintaining an LTR in the current mating landscape, this might also have to do with the "Fast vs Slow life strategy" model. LTRs need more pronounced Slow traits.

Update!

Surgery was this morning. Everything seems to have gone well. I can reposition myself on the bed without substantial pain, which is a dramatic improvement over when I came in. Even got up and went to the bathroom today.

Was told I've a reasonably good chance of being discharged tomorrow if the ortho staff sign off on it. Here's hoping.

As I've said before, I'm glad the hospital is here and incredibly grateful to the staff keeping me (relatively) comfortable and well fed, but I miss my bed. And my cats. And food that doesn't taste like beige.

South Africa is awesome

...unless you're white, from much of what I've heard and seen in recent years.

@woodsmoke damn dude, you've had a hell of a time lately, at least a far as injuries.

Wishing you a speedy recovery (physical and financial, because I know that had to hurt there too!).

@Bozza South Africa is awesome, the weather is awesome. Lots of fruits, veggies, and livestock. Corruption, crime, here there, and remnants of a collapsed apartheid goverment. Alien conspiracies in the Drakensberg Mountains, South Africa also holds the largest concentration of ancient human ancestral remains in the world. It also possess some of the best wine and beer in my opinion, there's lots of spots to go for vacation. There's lots of buried gold yet to be discovered all around the Kruger. South Africa is pretty cool.

I really have. And this one is entirely my own stupid fault.

I'm not going to beat myself up over it too much; it was a stupid mistake but it's not like I was deliberately doing something dangerous in poor conditions. I've fallen just like that a few times since the first accident and always been alright. Just bad luck it resulted in a break this time.

Financial damage remains to be seen. I have health insurance this time, which is good, but I seem to recall going with a plan with a fairly high deductible because I didn't expect to be in this sort of predicament again.

I repeat, more fool me.

I'll have to pay for at least some of the repairs to the bike too. Harleys have a two year But Nothing warranty but that doesn't cover tipping the bike. The guy I worked with at the dealership said they're doing what they can to help me out given the circumstances, but I'll probably be out at least a few hundred dollars. I can handle that as long as it doesn't push too high.

@First-light

Pretty much, yeah. I hadn't even turned the bike on, just held in the clutch to move it after moving the stuff behind it to make more room. I genuinely don't remember putting the kickstand up because why would I in those circumstances?

More fool me.

As with my previous accident, I can't help but remain cognizant of how much worse it could have been. The weight of the bike actually landed on my left foot but I was wearing my boots, which seem to have cushioned the blow enough to prevent any damage. That's twice those things have saved me.

The bone fracture was a result of my falling onto concrete—it didn't have anything to do with the bike.
