There are key moments where your failure to perform can mean she loses all respect and attraction. But I'm not sure how much actual performance counts (beyond having your basic shit together).

A top predator like the lion is, I believe, illustrating. The lioness is happy to do most of the hunting (chores), as long as she's sure she is with the apex male.

Otto Weininger has an example from some Native American tribe, where women would laugh at a fellow woman if they saw her man gathering wood, a female chore. Weininger, being autistic, interprets it as women being tricked into taking up work. He completely misses the point. For women specifically, symbolic status is a visible, tangible thing. They can spend decades, or in fact a lifetime, content in the periphery of a man who exhudes high status, even if it means she needs to take up the bulk of the work.

I'm not claiming this is "normal" or effective, of course. Many women end up destroying themselves and their children because of that tendency of them, because, unless you are dirty rich, your doing stuff matters in the real world.

Women's evolutionary preference for the alpha ape overrides reality, though.

In practice, they are quick to discredit your actual peeformance (Briffault's law). They see things through their fantasy lens.
